Happy Earth day! How did/will you celebrate it?

My son's school had a huge event going on...they had to bring in plastic bottles for recyling-the school was hoping to make a Guiness record. Not sure what the turn out was-I sent in a bag. They had class outside and he even brought home a tree to plant! It was a Sabal palm-our native tree-as we live in FL. So how is everyone else celebrating Earth day this year? Besides planting that tree today-I'm signing a few petitions on care2!

I haven't celebrated it, I hate to say. It was just like any other day, though. I did go to a bible bowl potluck meal at a local congregation of the Church Of Christ. I know that's not recycling but that's what I did. I know what palm trees are but I don't know what a Sabal Palm is. What does it look like compared to a regular palm tree? I'm sure it's going to be beautiful, though. Kathy.

I'm becoming more and more conscious of the impact I have on nature and the environment...I think it's because I have several clients that are die hard tree hugger types-and they're starting to rub off on me a bit A sabal palm is not the long frond one..it's the california-looking one if you know what I mean. They're naturally found in FL..Unfortuantely our little mini horse started nibbling on it-I hope it survives!

I bet your miniature horse is cute! I just hope he didn't destroy your tree. I love horses, anyway, and ride a lot, myself, hence the horse in my avatar. My nephew gave me that horse but I can't ride him because he's not broken yet. His name is "Cyrus", after my favorite country music singer, Billy Ray Cyrus, lol! Kathy.

Thats an awesome work u did. I guess i missed it this year. But then i have made a few posters for the earth and its safety. I will have them posted in my related areas so as to make people aware. I know most people dont care... but even if one does...that would yet be a successful revolution. What do u say?

Well..I think it's everyone's responsibility..even if global warming wasn't occuring or disproven somehow. I used to study "Wicca" in high school and instilled in me a great respect for the magical forces of nature. It's truly an amazing world we live in. As you already know-I'm also a poet and I think people that write poetry are more in tune with the elements-as they seem to be more sensitive. I only wish it was a required life course!
