Did you have to let go of your favorite stuff?

I have a network with Ning Creators and we call it our virtual home where we just let go, relax and share our stories. It's been a sweet journey since 2008. But recently, the new CEO has announced phasing out of free services. Which means, we have to pay for premium services the details of which they are going to announce on May 4th. I am just keeping my fingers crossed and just hope they keep it down decent. Have you ever felt this kind of sadness to the possible parting with something close to your heart? Did you let go or hung onto it? Share your stories and wish me luck. I really want to keep it.

mimpi1911 i had a page in nim too but had to give it because my computer said it was full of spyware and would not let me go there anymore. so now they are going to charge, thats e ven worse. I just hope mylot friends on those pages know that I had to quit using them. I quit for the sake of my computer. I can keep in touch in other ways with my mylot friends. hope Ning does not charge too much for you. good luck.

Hatley Gissi's Site has now moved to another Web because I am not willing to pay due to it being a Fun Site and I have managed to build it back up on the New Web

Nings has been good and if the pricing is decent we can still keep it, specially when I have made a beautiful world there. Just waiting for the D Day.

I read about this decision of ning Mimpi, and it was very surprising. After spending days and weeks in putting up a network, then getting your friends on it and keeping it going, it does get to be very close to you heart. And don't you worry about it too much Mimpi, Ning has too much at stake to loose by making it a very expensive proposition. I'm sure they will keep it at a minimum. Don't think of letting go, Keep it you will.

Thanks Alok. The new CEO certainly is desperate to get that ultra special feather on his cap. But he's going to lose out in the long run, I guess. Never mind, he must be having his issues which I respect. I would not let it go at any cost.

Yes Mimpi, as much as they might have thier reasons or not, actions like these sometimes get us to be more determined to keep things going and moreso it gets to mean more and we put in that much more. I'm sure you will continue to make the place even more special.

I have been notified by a lot of people on Ning networks that they will be moving because of this. It's sad. I kind of feel the same way about Yuwie (which has gone so far down the tubes) and myLot (because many of my favorite people are hardly ever here any more)...

It is a shame when things like that happen and you may have to part with something you love. I hope they keep the pricing right down for you. I guess I would feel like that about MyLot if we were to lose it. I felt a little a similar sadness when I made the decision not to keep blogging but at least the site is still there! Good luck mimpi here’s hoping you get to keep it, think positive!

I know exactly how you feel Paula but we have to be wise and positive. It gives us a power to fight and a power to cope. You wish means so much to me! Thanks.

I had not heard of this happening. I have built up a Ning network myself as a website for my archery club. I will have to go and check this out more. I hope that they are not going to charge too much for this. I will not be letting it go though. I put too much work into it to just let it go. The club will just have to pay for it. Even if it is $5 per month it is still worth it for us as it is still cheap web hosting for the amount of services that they provide with video and photo storage.

I must admit, it is very difficult to let go a thing or even a person holds dear to our heart.Personally, I had been in a difficult road the past year, I struggled to strip the memories and go on with my life, but then I realized, there's no point of holding back, so I really made an effort to release the rope of hope and mind my own life.Luckily for me and through prayers, I was able to manage to forget him and now I have a different aura and happiness, I finally conquer the pain and the feeling of rejection. But it was a tough road, really tough.

I am so so glad for you jlamela. I think, we have to come with terms of some things in life and sooner we realise this its better for us. I think you are really wise to have realised this. I wish you more love and luck in life.

I had to let go of one of my favorite digital scrapbooking websites a couple years ago. The administration decided that they no longer had the time to devote to the site that it had required and their profit had fallen considerably (this was at the beginning of the recession). I actually went through all the stages of grief when this happened. It was very hard for me and for a very short period of time I even considered giving up my hobby. However, I was lucky enough to find another community of scrappers that were just as nice as the original girls that I knew and I'm still happily scrapping.

I am glad Dora. When one door closes another opens. And I can feel what you must have gone through, because I am there right now. Scrap booking sounds great. Would you mind sharing the site with me?
