Do You Really Believe your Holy Book or just Parts of it????

I have known people who will swear their holy book is God's word and nothing else. Holy books are written by man regardless of what you might think. Can you find anything wrong in those holy books or do you claim, as some, that holy books are perfect and every word is God's word?? Religion can be very brainwashing. You study and recite holy books until every word can carry a special meaning for you. Can you honestly say that you agree with every single word?? Look it over and THINK!! I believe that most people must question their holy books regardless of the fact that they are told never to question. HOW MUCH OF YOUR HOLY BOOK DO YOU IGNORE BECAUSE YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH IT?? I am in favor of those who question. Sure there is some good in all holy books, however I have found few really know or understand God. Man is the writer of all holy books and if any of them were inspired by God, you can rest assured that man has put his own part in as well. If you can say your holy book is totally from God and you never doubt any word then I must question you and your thinking. Blind faith will never lead you to the truth. God wants us to know rather than depend blindly on anyone or anything. It's time to stand on your own two feet to search and discover for yourself.

Yup! every word of Bible. If we believe in God, we obviously believe in his power and capability. The bible is inspired of god and its actually a gift to human race. I do believe in creation as i know God has that power to do it. The bible writers were honest and even recorded their own mistakes unlike other historians. It contains numerous prophecies, many of which have already been fulfilled. It sets our path straight- morally, physically and emotionally with practical wisdom and what we should avoid. It helped me to examine myself and change me to better.

Well, every1 has varied thinking and different opinions. I am the type of person, who is satisfied with life, whatever comes my way. When i try to buy a car or a mobile, i search the best available and get it. After I do, I don't waste any more money trying to change them often, coz' something new has shown up, when the ones I have serve the same purpose! Regarding they teaching me to fear god.... I dont accpet him as my ruler coz' i fear him! I accept him Coz' I love him, I love his provisions, his compassion, his mercy and everything about him. Its heart felt! So Yup, I have concluded my search! And yeah, thanx 4 sharing ur views too.

Instead of believing in God and believing any holy book comes from God, shouldn't one search for God then let God supply His own words?? The only idea that the writers are inspired come from the writers. How else can they get you to believe?? Sure, there is goodness in all holy books but if you believe every word, then you can't be really looking.God will always add up. Holy books do not. Thanks for your comments.

You say you searched for God then you knew your search came to an end when you found the bible.Seems funny your are just satified with reading about God and what others are telling you.Do they teach you to fear God? Is that why you concluded your search?? Isn't God much more than you can find in any book much less one written by man???? How much are you missing by restricting your search??? What will you do when you find God to discovery He isn't quite like what man speaks of. I am only pointing.Your journey to discovery is yours. There is always more to learn. Never let others restrict your journey. The journey never ends. Thanks for your comments!!

Beleief in the holy Bible has to be complete. it is all or nothing. You can not believe in just the parts you like the best. Your faith in the Holy Bible cannot be surpassed.

There is gray. Only the gray finds a way to blend with the black and white.

The Minister of the Presbyterian Church I used to attend often stated that he believed every word in the Bible, he said he had to believe it all, or he would not be able to believe any of it. I considered this a cop-out. It was as if he was not able to reason it out for himself, as if he was not very intelligent. How could God give a Book of His own word, and include some passages that were not fact? If there was a passage that did not make sense in modern times, could a well educated Church Minister take it as the truth, and still live with himself? This I never could understand!

The minister wasn't really concerned about truth. To discover the real truth requires thinking. Nice comment. Thanks.

Hi bird, Thanks for your usual great discussion and I agree completely. There is some good in all of the holy books but as you say it was written by man and is therefore not perfect. Having been raised a Christian I am naturally most familiar with the Bible and yes there is much that is good there but also much that is bad. A careful reading of the Old Testament will show that a few people caught a glimpse of a God of love but for the majority he was a God of war who sometimes ordered people to commit genocide. It isn't until Jesus Christ appears on the scene in the New Testament that we get a clear view of how God cares for all his people. Of course those in charge, didn't like that, if Jesus got his way they would have no means of controlling the flock - so they got rid of him. There were divisions among the early Christians and much infighting but eventually the strongest group won and got rid of the others. If Christ were here in the flesh today many of the common people might follow him, just as they did two thousand years ago, but just as certainly, the leaders of the church would get rid of him just as happened then. Blessings.

Mankind is a controlling lot. Everyone has a different view. God gives mankind so many views to give us a greater view than any one person can have.I find it very interesting all the views of God. Everyone looks but few really see God. God is Unconditional Love. How many see?????As the saying goes. People see only what they want to see. This does show us who they really are.Yes, there seems to be lots of work that is needed. Keep pointing. Once and a while someone sees what you are pointing at. Thanks for all your comments!!

I believe in some parts of the teachings and some not. Really some of the teachings are not right.

I think most all holy books come out like that. It's when a person accepts and never questions is when they become blind to the truth. Thanks for stopping by with your comments!!

Is it our duty to follow or is it our duty to discover the real truth about God?? It is the duty of every child to become more than their parents. It's what your parents really want. Thanks for your comments!!

I only believe the New Testament and very little of the Old Tesament if at all. I was raised to believe the whole bible is true and to believe it. Since I have been an adult and got on my own my opinion has changed, alot!! Noah's Ark is the biggest one I ignore! Please! It could not of happen and never did! It was a true story blown out of the water, big time! The Joshua I ignore, too! Same goes with Moses and the Isrealits escaping Eypyt and wondering 40 years in the desert until then were allowed to enter Cannan! I don't believe in the parting of the Red Sea! I know Jesus only carried the cross's bar not the whole cross! So much of this has been researched and there is no proof! Religion can be brainwashing if you let it! I did for years! Not anymore! I believe what I want to believe not what I am told to believe! I struggled with this for years and now I struggle if God is really real! Anyway this is what I wanted to say!

Lots of good comments from you, thanks. Actions speak louder than words. Look around at this world. See God's actions. Can you figure out what is really going on??? It's a study in God. Yes, God does exist. Keep searching rather than following. You will discover so much more.

Good question there. Yes, there is a possibility that "man has put his own part in as well" as he hand-wrote the Bible. But I have a question here, can you find parts or sections of the Bible where man has put or added something not of God's will? Something so seriously erratic? To me, what's important is, the coherence and the theme of the Bible.

You would not consider hell erratic?? What about the way the bible put women second to man??? Let's not even talk of the old testament.Does the story of creation really add up especially with no real details???? God is much more than you can find in any one book. To study God is a lesson in complexity. Any new knowledge uncovered brings more complex questions. Simple answers aren't really answers. The only thing they do is point where one might go to search for answers. Thanks for all your comments!!

I believe all of it. I think you cant call it a belief when you believe just a part of it. When you say you believe something, believe everything. There's no such thing as a 50-50 belief.

Does it really all add up for you??? How can you not question??? Is God really acting like your holy book says??Would those actions really be smart or fair???? Think about it. Thanks for your comments!!
