Would you accept this offer?

A while ago, I was posting happily in a forum when one participant approached me. Basically he wanted to pay me $8 per month for my forum signature. The usual practice in forum was to post about a hundred post per month, so that the forum signature would reflect his website. I turned down the offer. My purpose of joining that particular forum was to get backlinks to my blogs. My forum signature highlighted both blogs. Would you accept his offer and earned $8 per month?

Hi Petranka, I do not join that forum for the purpose of earning money. So it never crosses my mind to ask for more. I want the backlinks from the forums to my blogs. That is the important reason for participating in the forum.

I usually like to use my own signatures when I post on different forums, so people will check out my websites. I would have accepted the offer only if next to his site I could post mine too. Otherwise I prefer to promote my own stuff.

Hi Honiawa, he is a professional. He mentioned he want my full signature space. That is why he can afford to pay $8 to those people who accept his offer. I prefer to promote my blogs too. Mainly for the backlinks. The traffic from forum is an added bonus. Once those bloggers and webmasters know that my blogs are dofollow, they visit my blogs to leave comments. Some are idiots, leaving spam comments. However, many do take the time to scan the content and leave meaningful comments. I appreciate those comments very much.

I am with you. If the one who offered me that $8 would meet halfway and allow me to post my own signature as well next to his then bingo!

I suppose I would have definitely considered accepting the offer. 100 posts at $8 is essentially 8 cents per post...rather a good rate! What I might have hesitated about is whether or not I could make so many posts per month due to time constraints and the nature of that particular forum. There are so many forums out there that you can easily find new ones to promote your own sites.

Hi Echomonster, that forum is very high ranking. I have no problem finding discussion threads since new discussion threads are added almost every single minute. The problem is that not all forums are PR6 and with dofollow signature links. It is not a matter of promoting my blogs. I want the backlinks more than anything. Backlinks can push my blogs to higher ranking. The traffic from the forum is a bonus. Most of them wanted to get links from my blogs since my blogs are dofollow as well.

No. As I would rather be promoting myself as I would be losing a whole lot more than $8 each month...definitely would not be worth it

Hi workingmom and yourself, that's the reason I turn down the offer. I think I can get double the rate if I can commit to participating in two hundred forum discussion thread in a month. However, I will miss out the chance to get back links to my blogs. Beside the backlinks, I get visitors who leave comments on my blogs as well. They want to get the link juice from my blogs since both are dofollow, and I want to get traffic. So it's a win-win situation.

If the forum is dofollow and he gets 100 backlinks from the forum, 8$ is nothing. Too low price, for me i would give beetweeb 20-30$ per month.

I would have accepted that offer if it was a few days back. But now I rather wouldn't as I started a new blog which I want to promote myself so I dont think this is a good offer presently. Also if I would have accepted that offer I would be feeling bad right now. So I think it was good I didn't come across such and offer.

Hi Pranaywhizmachine, that was the reason I rejected his offer. Even if he increased the rate higher, I would not have accepted it. The backlinks from forum signature help to bring my blogs to higher page rank. That is more important than the eight dollars per month. I think if I really want the money, I will just write a few articles and submit to writing sites.

I think it is too hard to get people interested in your own blog to give up your signature space for just $8, although it's flattering to get an offer at all. How are your blogs doing? I miss seeing you around the writing sites as much. I have to stumble on you here from time to time. I give you credit, however, if you can make the blogs work for you, you will be far better off than giving your work away to others to profit!

I probably would not even accept an offer of $8 per post! Do you have a way to track the activity to your blog?

haha Canellita, if the offer is $8 per post, I would accept it. It is very easy to participate in a forum discussion. I think 20 to 30 post an hour is achievable. I doubt anyone will be so stupid to pay $8 per post. I have statcounter in my blogs, and I can track where and how the visitors land on my blogs. It is interesting to see how they exit from the blogs as well.

It looks like I misunderstood. For some reason I thought you were talking about something else like article posting. If you mean posting in a forum like we post at myLot that is a little different.

Hi Synbitz, he wanted the full signature space. That was the reason I refused the offer in the first place. I value the backlinks from the forum signature, since these are dofollow and from a high ranking forum. Secondly, I value the traffic from the forum. When those webmasters and bloggers find out that my blogs are dofollow, I get excellent comments daily. Some are spams, and I deleted away.

Hi Umit_umit, if I do not have my two little blogs, I will probably accept the offer. I have no problem with posting in forum and I really enjoy all the discussion threads there. However, I do not need to accept his offer since eight dollars is not such a great sum. I can easily earn that much by two hours of writing, and submitting the articles to Helium.

Promoting a site on forums is a hard job and it's worth way more than $8 per month. Besides that would be bad to your own blogs. If you ever get an offer like that again try asking for more and just to add that person's link to your signature, but not accept to remove yours.

Hi Protoboard, actually forum participation is not so difficult. It is similar to mylot, just write naturally and participate in discussion thread that you are interested in. I do not usually refer to my blogs unless the discussion happens to ask about dofollow blogs, then I will mention that both my blogs are dofollow, and comments tangential to the blog posts are welcome. Other than that, forum participation is fun. I agree that selling my signature space completely defeat the purpose of using forum in the first place. I could earn that eight dollars within two hours by writing and submitting articles to Helium.

Hi Lightknight60, if I do not need to promote my blogs, I would have jumped at the chance to make extra money. I am rather regularly at that forum, and getting a few hundred incoming links from there due to the forum signature. The problem with that forum is that it is rather technical in nature, mainly on seo, webhosting, affiliate marketing, and not general topics like mylot. It is far easier to find discussion threads to respond in mylot than that particular forum.
