Staring at the stars on the dark skies...

Philippines
April 25, 2010 10:49am CST
When was the last time you got your chance to glimpse outside? To look up above and stare at the shining stars? Perhaps all of us are so busy in our life and we forget that every night there are manifold treasures outside... Try going out when it's already dark. Look up above, yes, just try to have some look... and do some breath... without purpose... Would you wonder then? How do you feel seeing those objects? Do you ever wonder why God made them? I find this whole thing refreshing... and I know you will find the same too... So tonight, I invite you all outside, and tell me what how does it works to you... Prime

I look at the stars each night. It makes me feel closer to someone special, as we share the same simple things in life. To watch the stars makes us feel closer to God and those we really love. Thanx for the invite, i will be there. TATA.

I never really look at a night's sky for stars,I prefer to look for a full moon! I think it is because I am nearsighted and the stars just look like little dots. But the moon, especially a Full moon, is so beautiful.

Hi Prime, what a lovely suggestion! yes everyone should find the time to cherish the beauty around us. it is all there for us to see and admire. what a pity that some find what you say ridiculous or see no true meaning in this, nor can most probably feel the special something you mentioned, it's the energy the universe stores for us to benefit from! The whole of it, including us humans, make a whole. We make part of this immense beauty and whatever lies outside, also lies within us. For whoever manages to see and feel the beauty around him, is he who has and sees the beauty within!! Q

the last time when i enjoyed staring at the stars for long time was last summer, when i was in the mountains in august it was more stars with some sky among them rather than sky WITH stars :) i don,t remember thinking anything - it was so relaxing to have endless number of shining points and to move your eyes from one place to another and to imagine your own lines and pictures that connects them:) but tonight i won't be able to join - it's cloudy outside

Absolutely right my dear... s taring at them above without purpose is so relaxing... yes, and I am always doing that when the sky is so clear... w ithout any clouds... and tonight, I was not able to glimpse any of those shining heavenly bodies because the whole day here is raining lightly... thanks for the nice sharing...

I would really love to do that. However, the problem now is the light pollution since I am staying in the suburbs close to the city. The light pollution makes it almost impossible to see the skies, to gaze into the heavens. The best place to do this is when you go to a vacation to a tropical island. Lying on the beach while looking for a falling star is very relaxing. I could lose myself doing that.

You reminded me when I visit my sister-in-law's place... My Big Brother and I rode a boat until dark and then I was able to stare at the stars above... and I could not just able to put some words on how I feel that time... it's so refreshing hmmmnnn.... and the best about herem even I do live in the city, but there are still nearby tropical area outskirt, and star gazing is still very possible here in downtown... thanks for the nice sharing my friend...

I will not go tonight, but perhaps tomorrow night. I got out and enjoyed the day today. Nature and the creation is breath taking. I am too lazy to put on shoes and go downstairs and go outside right now, I should be going to bed. You are right about how they look though, like diamonds on black velvet.

I do that often. Whenever I feel like I want to feel refreshed and I want to feel happy, I just go outside at night and seeing the starts really makes me happy, it looks magical. I sometimes wish to the stars. And I thank God He made these wonderful things.

hi prime oh my goodness the last time I did that was New Years Eve and my son had come to visit . we went out in the Gold crest Patio and we watched the stars and the moon, and it was so inviting to just sit there in the moonlight and visit. Not late enough for wishing the old Year out and he had to leave long before that but we star watched and talked and just absorbed the nature around us. My son is an atheist and I cannot see how he could not believe in God after staring heavnward. but he enjoye d star watching, I really think deep inside he knows that God made all these wonders.Someday he will know that God is real,I just know it. I should have done this since and I have not,too addicted to my computer to take a few minutes to see God's splendor for it is there for the seeing.

Bravo for the sharing my dear friend... I guess no one could belive that there is no God when they see all of them... perhaps no scientific explanation made so exact to explain how they are created... hence, in the end, we have to rely God... He made all things very possible...

I don't usually go outside at night. Though I do know that the night sky is a wondrous thing. Full of beauty and excitement. Looking up at it you wonder "who else is enjoying a beautiful night sky?" or "where in the world is it day time?" it's beautiful to imagine what other people are doing, what each star signifies, who's wished on a shooting star that night, or whose enjoying the glory of it all. It is night right now, 9 hours after you started this discussion. It is 8:53 PM.

Sorry for this delay my friend... so what's the thing you thought about that exact time? Did you ask yourself whether you are looking at the same star with the star I looked up that very evening...?

My husband and I like to go out to the store at night, when it's less busy, and I'll tell you that not once have I come home and not looked up into the sky. Astronomy is one of my interests, and the close I can get to leaving this planet and exploring is looking up into that night sky. Only two weeks ago, my hubby and I went on our fifth anniversary vacation, and our cabin was at the top of a hill, right under the stars. One night we sat out there together, looking up at the stars and asking each other those types of questions, for over an hour. What if someone on another planet, regardless of their race, is staring up at the same stars now? I wonder what kinds of constellations you can see from other planets, both in this solar system and others? I told my husband once again about my wish to someday visit another planet...to someday go into space...simply because it's the most beautiful of God's creation, in my opinion. Then we noticed an unidentified flying object that started slow, flying past the stars, then sped up and out of sight. And finally, we made up our own constellation out of some of the brighter stars, vowing to look for that same constellation at night in the future. You're right: it's refreshing, it's aweing, and it makes you realize that wow, I am tiny in this universe. Any problem I'll ever have is insignificant compared to this massive and expansive universe, simply because I am but a part of it. It gives me more reason to hold my optimistic viewpoints.

This is the perfect answer I got from this post dear friend ... thank you. And you know what I thought now, what if your destiny dwell in the other planet and not here on earth? And how if someday those things would be proven to be other dwelling planets for us humans too and unknowingly, for this time being, such exact thing that is happening here is also happening there...

It's amazing to think about how an action here on earth could cause a reaction on another planet, or change the course of the universe. That's one reason I love astronomy and just thinking about space so much...there are limitless possibilites as to the things to ponder. I think space is one of God's creations that He created specifically to open up our minds. Simply amazing, is what it is.

I dont remember when was thelast time I looked at the stars on the sky. its rainin gin Chicago and thats another reason I could not see starts. I love looking at the starts, its like nothing else exists in the world and only the start I am looking at exists. I accept your invitation to look at starts but unfortunately its cloudy sky so cannot see a single star. I am sure when I will look at the star next time, going to remember you :)

This is so Men in Black. I do agree that we sometimes need to slow down and appreciate life. After all, what's the point of making your life better if you are not able to live it. Take a look not at just the stars, but to everything around you as well. The best things in life are free.

Stars are fascinating to me from my childhood.when i was child i spent many hours with my brothers identifying objects we made by adding the stars together like the hour glass, plough and many other imaginary things. You are right now we are so busy that we don't have time to observe these little twinkles up in the sky. This thing is really so refreshing Prime.
