Will you do me a favor?

No, I don't need a favor. But I'm sure you have friends and family who sometimes ask if you will do them a favor. And I was wondering what was the last favor asked of you? Or, what was the favor you last asked someone for?

The last favor I had done was for my sister. She called me at the office and asking me to research of the number of Philhealth. Although I was busy during that time there were no other people my sister will depend when it comes to things like this so I just research it for her. I am always useful when it comes to my family even if I have to sacrifice many things for them.

Hi ambie, I work full time 2nd shift and get most of my hours in on the weekends. I have 3 days off during the week when most of the "normal" people are working. You have no idea how many people think that because I have this time off that I can be the one to run their errands or watch their kids etc. I've had to learn to say no at times or I'd have no "weekend" ever. Things have kind of eased up in the past couple of weeks but for a time, I was the "taxi cab" for everyone it seemed. My brother injured himself in an accident, my cousin doesn't drive and I just happen to know too many people who for some reason or another don't drive. I went thru a spell where I'd get up in the morning, guzzle my coffee, shower and run...that was my day. My 16 yr old would get home from school and want me to take her somewhere and I was ready to bite her head off. I was so so sick of driving and waiting for people. It wasn't fair to her so I did put a curb on it. She was the one I was obligated to.I told the others when I'd be out and about. They could go with me then. Often times I would call them and say I was going to the grocery store and offer to bring them. They were busy. Next morning bright and early i would get a call from my brother asking me to take him shopping. I'd do it, get home and my cousing would call wanting me to take her to the grocery store! Oh and it is never JUST the grocery store. Once they are in your cozy little car, they need to stop here and there and if you don't mind..there too. "NO" is a really cool word.

I don't normally ask things up people because I'm the kind of person who likes to do things for myself. (Obviously, sometimes that can get me into trouble, and I can become overwhelmed, of course, but that's just how I am!) Just this afternoon, my husband and I had my family over for Sunday lunch - it was my parents and all three of my younger sisters. (My younger brother and older sister [and their spouses and families] were missing from the group since they both live out of state, but we had fun without them - LOL!) The favor I asked was of my mom a few days prior. She asked me if there was anything she could bring since we were cooking lunch for everyone. I asked her to bring some pop to drink along with a chair since we don't have too much seating since it is just the two of us. It was nice having her bring those things because it took a load off my mind although they were small things. It's still nice when others pitch in. Speaking of which, my three sisters helped me in the kitchen to make lunch. I made Stromboli, so the dough needed to be spread, olives needed to be cut in half, and ham needed to be cut for ingredients. With all the help, it must've shaved at least a half hour off the prep time. I always enjoy being in the kitchen, but having all the help today sure made me smile, and I know I will remember this day for a long time. The best part is that I didn't have to ask my sisters to help. They just volunteered and pitched in. It was nice.

Let's just say that when it comes to cooking, I enjoy it, but I've also learned from my mistakes in the past. Just about everything you could possibly mess up in cooking, I've done it (aside from burning the house down, thank goodness!) Age is still on my side, so now that I've learned from those mishaps, I'm making progress! Another thing is that all my favorite recipes have come from family members. It's nice because I've made them so many times that I've memorized the recipes in order to share with others, and it makes it a lot easier to cook things when I don't have to look up the ingredients, cook time, etc. Thanks for your sweet comment, Amber.

Thanks for best response - I really appreciate it. This discussion definitely reminds me that I need to ask for help every once in a while for the sake of my own sanity (LOL) and to keep from getting completely overwhelmed. I'm always glad when I ask for that favor in the long run. Thanks again and keep up the good work posting excellent discussions.

Actually I am pretty self sufficient so I don't normally ask favors....Oh I did ask my friend to check at a store in Wis. that had a sale on jean jackets for my DIL.....that was a couple of weeks ago....she emailed me last thurs. that the jacket was still there.....and it was marked down to $1.75!!!!!! The last favor I did was probably for my son...babysitting though I would volunteer even if they didn't need me! LOL....

I very seldom ask for favors. They are generally asked of me from my daughters. Just this afternoon after church I had to take my grand daughter to meet her dad's sister since her mom was at school. Really I didn't mind doing it, since that means that I get to be home this afternoon and tonight. I have not slept in my bed since Tuesday night, so looking forward to getting to so so tonight.

Well, the last favor I asked of someone was when I asked a man I work with to carry something heavy for me out to my car. The last time I was asked for a favor was when someone asked that I bring something to town for them. I honestly, don't mind it when people ask for a favor but there are some people who seem to ask so often that it seems to be an annoyance.

The favor I ask from my aunt is borrowing money. Even though it is so hard for me, still I find ways and means to get the money she needed. I dont like to say no to her because I got shy. In some instances I also go to her if I have big problems so that is why it is called vice versa. She is veryu close to me in the sense that my I have no mother at all. I let her as a sunstitute of my mom. So never saying no to her whatever it is try and have it for her. I love her so much and I cannot let her feel sad. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2005354.aspx

that's true, particularly now, the election season in the philippines. a lot of people, friends and otherwise, are asking for favor. knowing my limitations and the kind of people approaching me, however, i only give in to some. you know, i have had a modest track record in certain aspects of running a campaign. but this time, i decided not to take any client and just maintain my regular routine... the money may be good, but, considering the stress, it is no longer worth it. i have helped a couple though, in some ways...

"Can you loan me a hundred dollars?" I always get asked for money or advice. The advice I give freely, but I'm usually too broke to give out money as often... The last thing I asked of something was for my boyfriend to help me hang window blinds in my room cuz they kept falling on my head ;p

When I was a teenager, it seemed all my friends, and my sister would ask to borrow money from me. Finally I said, I'm not a bank!

hi ambiepam the last favor asked of me was to stay in my room til my roommate returned so she did not have to carry her handbag. The last favor I asked was of her to please hand my outgoing mail to the clerk downstairs at the front desk so the clerk could put it in the outgoing mail postal box for me. We are always doing favors for each other, just part of being elderly roommates. We like to be friends with each other, and friends do help each other out all the time.

I don’t like asking for favours unless it is the last resort because I hate the thought of putting people out. The last favour that was asked of me was only today as a matter of fact. My friend’s brother and sister in law are going on a holiday for a week and they need somewhere for their dog Milo and their cat Ebony to stay while they’re away and my friend jokingly suggested I should take them until she came straight out and asked me if I would do it. I have a dog, two cats, a bird and three fish of my own and I have no more time nor space for any more animals so I declined. A bit cheeky asking me when she was not prepared to do it herself; it’s her in laws, no relation to me!

I was asked to go to the home of the caregiver who watches my 1 year old granddaughter and 2 other little girls and stay with them while the caregiver went to a doctors' appointment. She has a neighbor who normally would come over and watch the children, however, the neighbor was gone on vacation. Obviously, I didn't mind as it gave me more time with my granddaughter. I just thought it was a rather odd favor to ask, seeing other children were involved.

Oh! This one is easy, the last favor I did for someone was today. My sista called an asked if I could pick-up my nephew from school b/c he wasn't feeling well. I did, and it took 45 minutes JUST to get him released out of school!lol Then he told me that he was hungry and there wasn't anything to eat [that he wanted]at his house to eat. So, I picked-up something for him at the store.

i have not asked someone a favor yet so far.. but them who ask favor from me.. the last favor so far they have asked me is that to use my credit card.. however i do not consider it a favor, because from before i got them supplementary cards they can use it anytime if they like too unless i can pay them enough and then they have to tell they have to use it so that i can be able to budget my money for the payment of it.. so sometimes it is turned out as a favor because they have to tell me they will use it and with my consent i allow them to use it...
