Are you living a balanced life?

Although may not realize it, living a balanced life is important for everyone. For some, the responsibilities of work prevent them from having any fun, while for others, too much fun impedes their ability to fulfill their responsibilities. We need to make time for both if we are going to live a full and balanced life. Those who neglect their family and friends to spend more and more time at work will have an unhappy and probably short retirement. Those who neglect work for pleasure will shortly find themselves unemployed. Do you agree?

Yes, this is why is so important to divide yourself in a way where you can work and enjoy life at the same time. It can be done if you really value your family and your life style. Oprah Winfrey once said that we can't become what we need to be by remaining what we are.

You are right, pose123! I really feel this imbalance more and more nowadays. You see, I took time off to look after my daughter. I spent all my time at home. I missed working and earning money. Tried to find things to do online, but the earnings are not sufficient for me to continue to finance my life, not even my lifestyle. Now I'm self-employed, which also means my income varies from time to time. The good thing is that I get to spend more time with my daughter as well. I also have the liberty to work at home. the flexibility is important to me. The question is how do you balance work and play and family. Many people cannot find the fine balance between work and play. Mine is not perfect at all. I wonder whether that perfect balance will ever happen though.

Hi SydneyHazelton, I'm not sure if we ever find the perfect balance but at least we should be working at getting as good a balance as possible. When we live only for work or pleasure alone, we are unlikely to find happiness or if we do, it will be short lived. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Blessings.

I have never found this easy to do. Whatever I am doing seems to take over my life. I do not have the type of personality that can run my life by preprograming. When I work it has my total attention, when I recreate that also takes my full attention. The only thing I have found that allows a balance of any kind is to so enjoy my work that it also becomes my recreation. Habits alone allow me to devote time to spritual growth, without these I would soon become totally involved in worldly endevers.

Hi savypat, I think whatever we are doing at the moment should have our full attention. The important thing is not to allow one to take priority at the expense of the other. It is great if we enjoy our work but let's not allow our family to suffer because of it. There is a time for everything and when we realize that we will be a happier and healthier people. Thank you for your thoughts. Blessings.
