Here in Philippines old people and some Filipinos knows and believe about the superstition on the black butterfly. They say that if you had seen a black butterfly inside your house someone will be dead soon. It might be one of your relatives or one of the family member. I don't want to believe but an old lady tell story about the reality of this everytime that I saw here because according to her She had seen a black butterfly near me when I was rushing to school and I meet her along the street and She is saying something that I cannot hear. How about you do you believe in superstition? Can you share some of it?

I never heard before about this particular superstition you have just narrated. However, I believe in one thing whatever you anticipate is bound to realize eventually. In Bible it is thus written at Mt 17:20, "And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you." It means if you place your faith in superstitions then they are bound to come true. Therefore, do not believe in something, which you do not to happen, and it would never happen.

yes. I heard about the black cat its always an example in the class. I learn about the owl when I went to my grand mother's province and one of a relative told me a story about it when we saw an owl at the guava tree. Its so amazing that owls sleep dropping there head and hanging themselves in the tree.jeje.

I heard this myth about the black or brown butterfly but I never believe anything about this myth. I still believe that our fate and destiny are based on what we do in life and only God knows what will happen next to our life.

Im from Canada and there is a light hearted superstition about black cats. If one walks by you bad things will happen etc. But.. I own a black cat and he is awesome so I don't believe in that. I don't beleive the black butterfly is superstitious. I didn't even know there were black butterflys. You should check out "the mothman prophecy". It's creepy and apparently true and much more than superstition. Cheers!

This is one superstition that I have never heard of. It did bring to mind of one that I have heard of though and that is that if you see an owl, someone is about to die. I strongly believe that words are extremely powerful. Those which are out out to the Universe can come back ten fold. That which is said has the power to be. Good and bad so be careful with the words you choose and the superstitions that you believe. It is interesting that whatever was said, you did not hear. I take this as a good thing. Obviously whatever the person was muttering, you did not have to hear because you didn't, which is a good thing.

That's a new one for me. I am not very superstitious. So I would find this hard to believe. I'd probably use the internet to explore the origins of it, I find that interesting. But it wouldn't affect me.

ive heard many superstitions but never this one. perhaps because i live in USA. but theres other here. like my step dad believed to not walk around with one shoe off, being bad luck and dont open an umbrella in side the house, being bad luck. i often knock on wood if i say something is good because many believe if you comment about something good it will change badly if you dont knock on wood. so silly huh? even though i always do it in case. since the last thing i need is more bad luck...

I have never heard of this superstition, but it is very interesting. I have read stories about angels. The stories say that angels sometimes appear as butterflies. Perhaps, the black butterfly is an angel. I do truly hope that it is just a superstition though, because I don't want you to lose someone close to you. I try not to believe in superstition because I don't think you should live your life worrying about things that may never happen.

never heard of this one?? however heard this like the blackbird or dog howling but I must say not all is true and some may be made up to see how far one will go. The storys begin by one telling another and then get out of hand for one believes so much in something it causes it to happen in the mind one controls itself. becareful in what you spend more time in and words. Because one cannot hold what is instore for another unless they belive it. Many times of old, one would quote such things and was mistaken as a wise one or witch . But knowledge is not that but knowledge is God and Wisdom of Him . I have read alot of things on why this and why that and the cause is all in ones self. They do happen and yes they are there but many are fake and made up..a few makes you wonder but as one gets older and seek they know the truth..

Also, believing on such thing you negate your belief. If you are truly a believer of God, if you entertain such thing then you are a traitor to Him. they say "Nothing will be lose if we believe" this notion is actually a lie, If you resort in such things then you are adding Satan as your friend and deleting God from the list.
