I always had short hair and now I have both a short hair and long hair. I think I prefer short hair because though both shed, with the long hair you have to trim areas on the dog to keep it looking good. My puppies is a border collie/beagle mix and Ciara has the long border collie coat while Penny has the short hair beagle coat. When I clip Ciara's nail, I have to trim her fur in order to find her nails. Penny I don't have to do that. Plus Ciara needs trimming between her pads and behind, but I save that for my groomer daughter to do...lol

Haha, your daughter is a professional dog groomer? Or does she just love grooming dogs? :) How old is she? :)

Yes she is a professional groomer. She will be 21 this July and was the only one in her class get a certificate on good groomers skills. She loves all dogs and has finally gotten the job she wanted just over a year ago at the best groomer business in the county. Then soon after she bought a toy poodle which she keeps groomed very nicely..

I like short haired dogs because they are not hard to manage. We don't have to comb the hair every day. The long hairs would fall all over the place in the house which is not at all good for me. If he have a short haired one there is no such problem

Yeah, the cleanup does seem to be a problem, but I think if you love the dogs, you'd be willing to make sacrifices, haha. :D

I prefer short haired dogs. my lurcher has a very short, very fine, very soft coat, and he feels like velvet or silk to stroke. he's so soft and smooth. short haired dogs are usually lovely and shiny too.

Wow, I looked up Lurchers, and they are beautifully built dogs. :) Yes, I guess the short-haireds win on the point of being shiny. :D Thanks for your input, Galena!

Haha, do you have a dog where you're staying, Hatley? :) Hmm, I guess the small long haireds and the retrievers do have sweet tempers. But the Siberian Huskies seem to be stern, while Chow-chows are very temperamental. But they still look great anyway. :D Heheh! Nice seeing you in most of my posts, Hatley! What's your first name, btw? :) I'm Lorie. :)

Ahh yes, cute little long-haireds are adorable. Though I find shih-tzu's pretty goofy, I think Lhasa Apso's are actually cuter. :D I once knew a Lhasa Apso named Cetrin, and she was the sweetest, most adorable dog I've ever met... Until I met a pug named Budz. Heheh. Thanks for your input, Jeff. :D
