How do I add banners to my profile?

I know this question has been asked before, but whenever I try to put a banner or anything else into my profile, it does not work. I click on edit profile then on add content. A box opens up with a button for add html, but it won't let me go any further. I have tried this in several browsers and it doesn't work. I am not very tech savvy so there may be something I am doing wrong but I can't for the life of me think of what it is. I have been trying to do this for close to a year since I started running many ptc sites. I can't advertise my sites in posts and I can't afford to pay for advertising so it would be very useful to be able to add my banners to my profile. Sorry for sounding like a rant, but this is really frustrating for me. Thanks for listening.
