Can you help?

The remote wasn't working and I asked my DH what buttons to push - so I'd know the next time - he took the remote, pressed some buttons and started to walk away. I asked again for hime to let me know what to push. He said, "Hold down the set up button - but don't touch it." I repeated, "Hold down the set up button but don't touch it?" In a questioning voice because that didn't make sense to me. He said, "Yes, if you touch it you have to reset the whole thing. So hold down on it but don't touch it" I said "That doesn't make sense - how can I hold something down and not touch it. " He started to walk away again, mumbling like he was irritated. I said, "Please don't go, please explain first. How can I hold down on something and not touch it." He said, "That's not what I meant" Then went in the bedroom and closed the door. Can someone tell me if I'm just really tired not to understand...I did repeat what he said. Does anyone agree that perhaps he wasn't communicating the idea well enough? I repeated what he said to make sure. When he confirmed, I let him know I didn't understand. Is it me?

I'd say you could 'touch' without holding down but, how on earth can you hold down without touching??? I think the "That's not what I meant" is a typical response of someone who knows they haven't explained things well & the walking away is to make you feel like you're the one with the problem. I wouldn't let it worry you - maybe he was tired or he'd had an annoying day at work or something.

Don't worry, I didn't post it so I could throw it in his face. I wrote it to see if others know exactly what he was referring to and if it was just me!

Just sounds like he grumpy about something else to me and needs to take it out on someone and lucky you, you get to be it. I wouldn't take it to heart. Electronics can be tricky things and it doesn't sound like he explained it well. Give him some space and then ask again later.
