Hi! I've been on facebook for more than a year now and I've been hooked on it eversince. Not a day goes by without me going to the site -- at least once a day -- to go over my profile or to check on my friends or sometimes just simply to play games. I go to the site once in a while also when I get tired of doing my regular writing chores just to spice up my routine. How about you? What's your experience on Facebook or FB? Any unusual ones?

Facebook now seems to me just a waste of time since i discovered mylot. But i still visit the site every now and then to check on my friends and to check if i have messages or invites. But i leave the site as soon as i'm done checking. On some days, i use the chat option if an old friend is online. but i really spend most of my time on mylot. not only for the earnings but for the discussions.

FB can be a good source of traffic if you own a blog. Just imagine if you can invite a lot of facebook members to your site.

Yeah, sometimes that's what irritates me -- the notifications which accumulate when you do not log in which somehow pushes you to have to visit your site once in a while. Just don't mind the boys -- they'll eventually get tired of what they're doing.

I'm glad you found out the advantages, as well as the fun part of spending time with Facebook. It's also nice to know that you have already restricted yourself from doing the games because mostly it's those applications which hooks one on FB -- been there, done it... ha ha ha...

I love Facebook! I don't wanna use the term "addicted" by the way, but Facebook is my home page and I am logged in for the entire day LOL. However I don't update status every minute as I find it kinda annoying and unnecessary. I used to like all the games before but since there are a lot of them now, I have stopped playing Pet Society, Petville, Restaurant City, and Fishville. I only play Hotel City now and I can't say that I am addicted to it. Another reason why I love FB is that it's very user-friendly and cool at the same time. I love the functionality, and I love how I get to interact with my high school friends easily. About unusual experiences on FB, well there was this girl who studied at the sister school of my high school, and then she sent me very rude, insulting messages. She even cursed me. LOL. She also posted the same comments on my wall and on my photos. It was really weird because we don't even know each other personally. That girl has a lot of haters in the university she's going to now.

So much for not being addicted huh? Great comment mjcookie. I'm just glad you enjoy FB the way I do. Your unusual experience is rather weird. Why was she sending you rude and insulting messages when you did not even know each other? Really weird situation and I do not really know how I would have reacted in your place. Thanks for the comment and I'd like to add you as my friend.

Well, we know each other by face and name, but we haven't really talked. So I was really weirded out by what she did. Sure thanks. :)

I have never been addicted to facebook.I have one and open it from time to time but just because I am curios of my friends photoes or when I used it for the chat because most of my friends could be found there all day long.I did never understand how a man can wake up some hours earlier before going to work just to work in his farm.It is pretty stupid.Or open some luck wishes-go out and try your luck you won't find in sitting in front of the pc.

Ouch! That hurt. No, I was joking. Seriously though, I thought you were talking about me, ha ha... That was me before though, before I found my online work. Now I do not have time for those things and I can no longer find the motivation to plant, harvest, plow, plant, harvest, plow... which I was doing just months ago...sigh... Kidding aside, I have allowed all my crops to be ruined and my pet in pet society probably is so hungry by now with the flies all over him, but I can't afford to waste anymore time when I am doing good earning with my writing jobs... Thanks and happy mylotting!

It's nice to know that you enjoyed the games on Facebook before too the way I did. Just the same I got bored with them and I now just let all my crops to wither -- lol! I've been joking to my youngest son before that I have nothing to bequeath to him except my farms -- in farmtown, countryworld, barn buddy and farmville --, my restaurants -- in cafe world and restaurant city --, my pet -- in pet society, my house -- in yoville, my resort in tiki resort, my club in social city, and my investments in sorority life. It's a great joke and we ended up laughing and telling stories about my farm and his own farm, etc. Anyway, I've gotten tired of the games and I'm now spending most of my time doing online jobs which are more productive and worthwhile.

I think i used to be.. especially because of farmtown and cafe world. Lol. Those are games in FB. I read about an article in Yahoo and they presented the so-called FAD, acronym for Facebook Addiction Disorder. According to the article, here are the symptoms or signs of someone having FAD: Are you a Facebook addict? According to Joanna Lipari, a clinical psychologist at the University of California, Los Angeles who was interviewed for a CNN report, here are some signs that you are addicted to Facebook: 1. You lose sleep over Facebook. When using Facebook becomes a compulsion and you spend entire nights logged on to the site, causing you to become tired the next day. 2. You spend more than an hour a day on Facebook. Lipari said it is difficult to define how much is too much when it comes to Facebook usage, but that an average person need only spend half an hour on the site. 3. You become obsessed with old loves or exes you reconnect with on Facebook. 4. You ignore work in favor of Facebook. This means you do not do your job in order to sneak time on Facebook. 5. The thought of getting off Facebook leaves you in cold sweat. If you try going a day without Facebook and it causes you stress and anxiety, this means you need help. According to the same report by Elizabeth Cohen, Senior CNN Medical Correspondent, Facebook addiction is not yet an actual medical diagnosis. source : Yahoo!News Out of the five, I answer in affirmative for numbers one and two..and negative for the remaining three. Lol. This was before, but now, I can survive a day and even a week without FB. LOL!

Hey, you know your post is very useful I'm sure a lot of ex-FB users would surely identify with these, and present-FB users, like me, although no longer THAT addicted would definitely find it helpful. Come to think of it, I made all five of signs positive!!! Imagine that! But that was way before because as I said, I am not that active with FB anymore as my orientation now is more on earning than socializing...

Of course, it was fun while it lasted. Friends had warned me beforehand that I might get addicted which I simply brushed aside. And I definitely fell for it... But at least I'm recovering now -- I have been rehabilitated! - joke I'm now spending more time on online jobs than spending time uselessly.

I do not want to say addicted because I am not. I can last days without logging in to it. However, when I get the chance to come online, it is the first site I visit. It always feels good to read updates from friends and loved ones.

Yes, it sure makes a difference getting news from friends and loved ones. However, I really can't last a day without FB so... I'm just glad you also appreciate FB's existence. Thanks cutie18f. Hope we all get to learn more on mylot.

I used to be. But now I seldom log in to it. Except of course if I get an email notification that someone sent me a message or commented on something connected to me. I used to play a lot of games in there. But not anymore. I'm in a middle of juggling a lot of things right now. And I think I enjoy mylot better.

Similar case too. I guess that happens when a person matures or just gets tired of impractical things like spending time worthlessly.

I am checking my facebook account everyday to keep posted about my friends. I don't engaged in any application because what I only want is to connect with my friends. Hope you don't mind, you mentioned about your regular writing chores. Are you a freelance writer? To whom are you writing for? Are you a Filipino? I am kinda interested. Please let me know.

I was addicted to facebook before specially their apps. I even didn't go to school because of that. Farmville, Pet Society and Friends for sale they were super love! But now, I quit playing this games because I am too busy now with my job :)

It's really funny looking back at those times huh? Sometimes I can't help smiling at what craziness overtook me, and how helpless I felt at the mercy of those applications :-) Anyway, we just have to appreciate that we have overcome the addiction, and moving on right?

A couple of years ago I remember signing up for Facebook, but at first I didn't like it because back then I was hooked using Myspace. You know that time when people were into decorating their profile page, putting playlist music, HTML layouts and such -- But then the issues evolved with hackers, scripts and those that stole passwords to post vulgar content from your own profile. Then for a while I stopped using social networking sites. It was then around mid 2009 Facebook started growing more into popularity, more new features were added, better games such as Mafia Wars, Bejeweled, the built in twitter type update box, adding groups, much more not even having to worry about putting new layouts or HTML codes -- And to this day that is just obsolete or old fashion to do so. Yes Facebook is addicting -- I use it, my sister, brother in law, family and friends -- So many that used various social network sites have quit using them and converted over to use Facebook. For me I keep two separate accounts one for my own personal account for my friends and family. The other account is my gaming account for Mafia Wars -- that way I can just keep those posts only for the game because I wouldn't like it clogged in my own personal account.

Yes, I remember that time, and back then I was still using Friendster. That was the cool thing then because you could do things with your profile to customize it according to your preferences. But, you know, things changed inevitably, and now, the cool thing is Facebook. At first, my friends also reacted that it looked so boring and monotonous. Later on, however, it became "in" and everyone was part of FB in no time. You must be good at Mafia Wars to even allot an account for it huh? Well, good luck to you with your games, then. Enjoy!

I admit that I am also addicted to facebook. The first thing I usually do when I wake up in the morning is to check my facebook account. I am trying to control the number of times I go online cause it takes up a lot of my time. One positive thing I find in FB is that it relieves my stress when I am having a bad day at work. I usually chat with my friends there when that happens.

Hi Andyvil. I'm glad I have at least 1 of you here on my side, thank God! Seriously though, I am actually slowly weaning myself from facebook because it is really time consuming once you start doing the games, and other kinds of stuff there. Last night I was even chatting with 3 friends simultaneously. But I have stopped doing the games -- really!!! Thanks for your response!

i used to be nonchalant about facebook when it was still in its early stage but then my officemates exposed me to the world of FB games and now I am super hooked! i used to playa round 10games but i swore to myself that i will cut down my FB games time and do something more productive hahaha. but i'm not really into checking the profiles and status of people. maybe once in a while but not everyday.

Thanks for dropping bye evepin. I can relate with what you went through because I played all the games there, be it farming, city life, pets, restaurants, name it, I'd have played it. As I said earlier, I did allot time to playing before and my day wasn't complete then if I wasn't able to check on my crops -- now they're all dried up I guess, but who cares? ha ha. I've given up on the games. Now I'm more into the socializing stuff, chatting, browsing through my friends' updates, etc. And I'm more oriented towards earning now, that's why I'm doing myLot again after a short hiatus. It feels nice to be home again... :-D

hello starmoon2815. I guess you're right. myLot is getting addictive too. I remember a couple of months ago when I started on myLot, I just couldn't stop making posts. But I literally weaned myself from it so that I could focus on my work and my chores as a mother. Now I'm back at this hobby, but I think that it's a healthy one now because I have somehow learned to control it. Thanks for your response!

Hi joram328. I'm not addicted to facebook. I was a facebook user once but eversince facebook tries to mimic microblogging sites by allowing people to comment status updates and those kind of stuffs like twitter or plurk makes me really think it starting to interfere with people personal life. Besides the email notifications just bug me a lot. Everytime friends start tagging photos, comments etc. I ended up cleaning the mail just for additional work of tidying up my email space. I like twitter or plurk and myLot since you can be what you are and share your opinion while staying anonymus. Besides I don't want to share my everyday life to people that I dont know anyway. cheers.

Hi donyun247! I am not really familiar with the microblogging sites you are referring to -- I am not really not into that techie stuff. Yes, sometimes the email notifications get really irritating but anyway, it's connected to my yahoo acct so I don't have to delete stuff. I also have a twitter acct but I like myLot better because there's the monetary consideration that makes the difference "-)
