Too many, Property Inspections for me to handle!!

We are having another Property Inspection. We just had one in March. Then we had another one scheduled on April 15th, 2010. No one showed up to my apartment. I cleaned up and everything. Then the nest week there was a note on my front door, that I knew nothing about. My husband saw it. He came home from work around 10 p.m. that day. So, the Inspection was the very next day. So, once again, I cleaned like a maid. They did show up this time. A woman and the manager. Now here we go again. The Fire Inspection guy showed up on April 27, 2010. He came. And now today, there was a note on my front door about another Property Inspection that is tomorrow. I was like, WTF! We just had one in April. That was two weeks ago. Is this supposed to be happening? I thought that inspections are supposed to come only every 3 months or so. I don't know what is going on for this apartment complex to be having all of these inspections! When we get them, it is like a last minute notice sort of thing. She seems to send the letters the day before the inspection. That still ruins my next day. Now, I have to clean three rooms that has no carpet in it. I don't have any carpet on any of my floors at all. This is a big job for me. I think that she is being contacted at the last minute. That could be her reason for sending out the letters so late. We had a big crowd out here on Friday night. A girl was cursing at the top of her lungs. It was so many people that were standing around. It must have been gangs or something. She was about to fight. I don't know who it was... It was just so many people. So my husband secretly called the police. They came out and told people to go home. If they did not live out here, they was going to be arrested. It was just crazy! I don't know if this has anything to do with it. But, I have seen the police out here numerous times. I have seen where an officer was looking around a bush. And then another time, my son said that he saw officers with dogs. Why do we need so many Property Inspections???? We just had one two weeks ago..

Before going through all of that all over again. I'd call the office and let them know that they just inspected the place just 2 weeks ago and are they seriously going to do it again? I'd remind them about the inspections, all of them that have been done and the ones that were scheduled and not done. Maybe they are doing this on purpose and maybe not. But if you call them and let them know that you are aware of the mix ups then they may stop what they are doing.

Hi, moondancer. I doubt it. We all are getting letters. I see that my neighbors have an note on their door too. This is getting weigh out of hand here. She should write us a letter stating why we are having all of these unnecessary inspections. I am getting so tired of cleaning up. I don't want to be forced to clean when I don't really have to. I will be glad when all of this is over with. I thought that our last inspection was in April. I guess I was wrong. I thought that we may have one in July..

Maybe a couple of people in the place are not keeping their place clean and it's their way of making sure that they do...keeping them on their toes so to speak.

Yes, I was thinking that too. But gracious, I am being kept on my toes too. I always keep my apartment as clean as possible. It just makes me work extra harder. My back is not that strong. I have an Herniated Disc. And if I stand up for a shorter period of time, it will cause me pain. The manager knows that I keep my apartment clean. It just gets so tiresome because I have to clean up the day before I have an appointment somewhere that same day..

That does seem extreme....I wonder what they are looking for....do you have the right to not open the door? I don't know about these inspections as I don't rent. Hope they leave you alone for a while after that!

Hi, jillhill. To my understanding it is mandatory that I open up my door. It is not stated on the letter, but I know that it is. I hope that there aren't anymore inspections. This is tiring me out!

If they are having so many property inspections I would guess there are people calling and complaining about the apartments. Since they did not come the first time and they did the second maybe they are only doing so many a day and they put a note on every door just to be on the safe side. I would not spend my whole day cleaning up. They are coming to inspect for major things anyway, not how clean your floor is.

On the letter it said that we need to have our apartment clean. My floors were somewhat dirty. I would be ashamed if they came and my floors looked unclean. I have no carpet on any of my floors. And it makes me have to clean up a little more..

I can't imagine why you would need more than one inspection a year. That just sounds crazy. I don't remember ANY inspections at all when I lived in an apartment.

I I had the same question. One right after another. Ikes! Finally a nice maintenance guy explained it to me. Housing tells maintenance and us that there is a inspection planned and when. So then maintenance has to schedule a walk through to see if there is anything the tenant needs to have fixed before the Inspection. So it seems as if you are getting one inspection after another.

Hi Cream That is a bit strange and you are suppose to get 24 hours Notice Now all I can think of is that they are looking for something but to not make it to obvious they are inspecting every Flat We do not have that here so I suppose that is one good thing I guess I hope it all went well and you get peace now

sounds like they're snooping. one place i lived at constantly came up with reasons to enter if they thought you were doing something,or were looking for a conveniant reason to evict.

I think they are snooping too. I know that my husband told me that the police officer was going to tell our manager to evict everyone who lives out here that may have something to do with the fight that almost broke out. I think that she may have been informed about this. It was such a big crowd when we came back from shopping on last Friday. It had to have been about 45 to 50 people that was just loitering around. Girls and guys both. I don't know if the girl that was cursing lived out here or not. But she sure was screaming and cursing at the top of her lungs. Someone pissed her off about something for her to be acting like this. I am glad that it was not me. The guys that live out here told my husband that they were just getting warmed up for the fight a few minutes after we left. We were gone for about two hours. So, I guess this fight was escalading up until the time that we got back.

That's crazy!! Can you call the office and find out why there are so many inspections going on and what the point is? At least see what they say. When I lived in this one apartment complex they had one inspection once a year, and that was only to see if any faucets were leaking, change the smoke detectors, and to make sure no one was hiding more pets that allowed. It was no big deal. But to tell you the place has to be clean is strange, and I read one of the responses saying they might be selling it. If you are under a lease, I don't believe any new landlords can raise your rent or throw you out until that lease is over, if I'm not mistaken. Your lease is a legal document which states you have the right to live there and it is your personal space as long as you pay your rent. Sounds like somethings up so I'd at least call and see what they say. You can also just ask if the property is for sale too, why not, you have a right to know, period.

Actually, what for property inspections for?? What's their purpose, in doing it every 3 months or so?? I dun think we have that practice over here.. Because i have never seen or heard ple coming knocking on our door, asking to inspect our property.. That seems kinda interesting to me though.. hehe ^_^ BUT only allowing one to just have one-two days to clean up the whole house?? TIme is simply just not enough!! I guess that's a problem with the communication problem with that department, and thus resulting in them coming every few days instead of the scheduled 3 months.. hehe
