How old is your computer/laptop?

I'm actually very curious to know what your responses to this question will be. With computers getter smaller, faster, and "better" every couple of months, let alone every year, it's easy to just go out and buy a new one if you've got the money. I've been working on the same PC for 6 years now, and I 'm sure it's still got at least another couple years of life in it. My 80GB hard drive seems puny compared to what most computers are equipped with today, but I recently got around that by purchasing an external hard drive with over three times that amount of space, so I'm set! How long have you had your computer or laptop? Have there been any problems with it while you've had it? Within the first week of purchasing my computer, the videocard malfunctioned in some way and I had to send it to the manufacturer for repair, but that's the worst that has happened. Aside from little hiccups of spyware and malware which are mostly unrelated to the state of the PC itself, I've been quite happy and hope to be for a while longer. :)

My monitor is new, it just months old, while my cpu is very old, about 8 years old. I so much hate my pc because it is very slow and I cant download and watch movies in my pc like others do. My father don't want to buy another cpu even if it is already dying and hardly working. It is just so slow and I get so stressed out working in my pc.grr.

Maybe you can save up for a newer one, even if it takes a while? That's what I'll have to do if I want to get a newer computer when this one finally bites the dust.

Yeah, I think you're right. I think it would still take me 1 year to save. CPU's here are just too expensive. Or hopefully my mom will send hers here so that I don't have to save, but still it would take a long time for it to arrive. *sigh*..

I have 2 working desktops in my house. The one my husband uses is maybe 9 years old??? The one I work on is about 5 years old. I am getting a refurbished laptop this week though! I can't wait!

Sounds like you've gotten pretty decent use out of both of them! It's always exciting when a new-to-you computer is about to come into your life --there's so much to get acquainted with. :)

HAHA...My PC is quite new. It's only 6 months old.Since its operating system is quite new(windows7),some softwares are not compatible,it really brings me many troubles. But generally I'm quite satisfied with it.

At least you don't have Vista...I've heard of a lot more people having trouble with that than Windows 7.

my desktop computer that i am using in the office is just about 8 months old. very new at our office has budget for purchasing computers yearly. actually, i've got about 3 computers in the span of one year or 18 months. the old ones were distributed to the other workers. with the kind of work that i have, the office gives me priority when it comes to computers. my own personal laptop comes a little later. i just got this about six months ago. but actually, this is already eight months old. one friend bought this laptop and after 2 months or maybe 3, she pawned it to me. after a month, she told me she will just let me pay for it, if i want, for the price less than the original price she purchased it.

my laptop's a year and few months old. if the time from its first owner is included, that would total to 4 years. it had been asleep though for 6 months in my possession. i broke the adapter. hahahah... but now, it's working fine. our desktop is 3 or 4 years old too.

we had this laptop for almost a year now and still we haven't had any problems with this one except for the battery. I hope we get to bring this one before the warranty is over.

well I change computer every 6 months but laptops I usually wait for 2 years, the problem with laptops is that is not common that we can make upgrade to them beside a simple memory increase or another hard drive. so the investment is way expensive with laptops
