Did you know that in Japan that people worship cats. They have cat clothers aswell as loads of other cat things. They even have a mosk where people buy china cats and place them in it and make happy wishes. There are alot of people that are finding it hard to get cats there.Cats are really spoilt in Japan. But the thing that amazed me is that the cats even put up with wearing the clothes, its on tv with Joanna Lumley called catwoman on ITV.

lol, so true. Cats are individuals and don`t like to be told what to do.

Do you mean a real cats or just a toy cats. I really don't know that there is a certain country that worship cats. Maybe it has something to do with their belief.I have cats and I love cats but I will not worship them. I will just treat them as a pet and a friend. But that is so good to know that there are certain country that are so nice in treating cats. That is why they adore Hello Kitty!

You should read my post on this discussion about the worship of cats. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2308530.aspx?p=2 I am into Ancient Egyptian culture and artifacts, I am also going to Egypt before the end of this year to see the Giza Pyramids and the Valley of the Kings. I also like Hello Kitty and its like that cartoon character is one of the symbols of Japan. Fact: Hello Kitty just turned 36 years old as it started in 1974.

Hey I also love cats especially those who are hairy and fat where I find them very adorable. It's nice to know that people used to worship cats but sad to say the in the philippines they are eating cats for their meat. They are even everywhere along the street or corner where there are no owners to feed them.

Hi jugs, I had heard that some people worshiped cats but didn't know it was the Japanese. Somewhere there is a religion that believes that we can be reincarnated as animals and they believe that they very best animal to come back as is a cat. I wonder if that would have anything to do with this. I also wonder about the tradition behind that idea and the worshiping of cats. I would like to have seen that program. Blessings.

I haven't seen this particular programme, but one I saw about the Japanese and cats a few months back featured what I could only describe as a house of cat therapy -People who for whatever reason couldn't have a cat at home (Landlord Rules, families with allergies?) could come to this place, choose a cat to spend some time with, and pay by the hour to do so!

I was "stumbling" photos yesterday and found this Japanese cat's photo Album..(Can't recall his name, but apparently He's famous on the interwebs..)The Owners have taken this sleepy looking cat and placed things on his Head..one was a spray of flowers that looked like a hat on his head..must be a very docile cat to let them do that!

This is amazing, but I keep a shirt on my cat. She has problems with her skin, and this seems to help. She does not scratch as much. I make a shirt out of a white sock. Her name is callie and she will 7 years old this year.

hi jugsjugs I learn something new every day on mylot, I had read something about cats and Japan but I did not know about the cat clothers . I would love to see some of those china cats,I am such a collector, have a ton of beanie babies, and some are cats too. That is something to see a cat actually wearing clothes and not making a fuss about it. I do not get ITV or would have watched that.

Thats very interesting to me. I never knew that. I currently have three manx cats. They do not have tails. I have the mama and her son and daughter. Miss Kitty Kat, Missy Sissy Kat and Bubba Kat. I love them but i do not worship them. They would never let anyone put clothes on them. Miss Kitty is very tempermental. Mostly mental. My daughters family has a cat. My granddaughter does alot of things to that cat. Even putting clothes on him. The other day while i was babaysitting she cut the cats eyebrows one one side and part of his wiskers off. If i was that cat i would just scratch her and hide from her. But he dont. I actually think he likes it. My cats would never take that treatment.

I never knew that the people in Japan worship cats. However, it doesn't surprise me at all that they will dress them. I know that there are a lot of people here in the states that will dress their dogs and with my limited experience with cats (since we only got our cat a few months ago) I think that they tend to be a bit more docile than dogs and thus it would be easier to dress a cat than a dog. However, we actually don't dress any of our animals.

I have two cats that i absoloutely adore . the youngest one Jingles is 15 mths old and just a ball of fur , she is so intelligent and cute. I swear she has full conversations with me and she seems to know if i'm feeling low as she always comes up to me and sits with me.My eldest is Olly and she is 10 years old and we have to take really good care of her as she is deaf and has diabetes. She is such an old lady and can be really grumpy at times especially when Jingles wants to play with her.Have you watched The Lion Man on sky 107 it's fascinating to see such big cats being so playful and mischievious.

They would be well at home in my house then. Cat calenders, cat mugs, ornaments of course, pictures on the wall, cat handbags, cat clocks, real cats of course, stone cats out in the garden, cat diarys, At work really lovely cat pens and mugs given me as gifts by my fellow workers, plus my lovely cat picture frame with guess what ?? a picture of one of my lovely darling cats thats gone over the rainbow bridge. On my computer i have a little wooden cat curled up asleep who also looks like one of my late cats. I absolutely adore cats, but haven't yet seen the programme with Joanna Lumley. It might be not in our area yet, I live in the south east. It could also be on while i'm at work. if someone could respond and let me know what time its on , i could skyplus it. thank goodness for modern technology. Thanks for letting us know. I might move to Japan !!I must admit I have never tried dressing up any of my cats, ever, They are too dignified for that. My dog ,now different matter, i have a charming pic of him dressed up as santa claus, and his face is a picture of glumness.

I guess if you start them early, when they are tiny kittens you can get a cat to dress up, maybe even like it if they get special treats at the same time.

They worship cats now? Does this mean Hello Kitty is like the high priestess or something? My older sister used to dress up her cats all the time when she was young. They would usually just go all limp and stuff, and tip over in protest of the whole deal. It was funny, yet somewhat sad at the same time. I suppose a silent protest is better that a protest filled with claws and biting.

Hello Jugsjugs I watch a program from time to time about cats on TV as well its called Cats 101 it talks about all different kinds of cat breeds and educates cat lovers about them as well from their demeanor, their habits , health, life expectancy ,care and grooming also they talk about the origin of the breed and what type of families they are more likely to be compatible with. Its a very interesting show my husband and I watch it whenever we can catch it on Animal Planet they also have one for Dogs by the same name DOGS 101 I have a Domestic Short Hair Tabby his name is Jinx and he's 5 years old we got him from the rescue shelter and he's a sweetheart very mild mannered and loves to play he is an indoor cat and we consider him as part of the family

I knew they worshiped cats in Egypt, but I didn't know Japan also. I was under the impression that they ate cats. I guess that was another country. I can't imagine a cat allowing anyone to dress it. Mine would have a fit, and if I did manage to get anything on them they would tear it off.

I guess we have our own different beliefs so let's just respect them, coz cat is also a good pet, that some people loves to take care of it..
