Promoting a site: how much do you allow for newbies?

We all know that in this interest is where most posts are deleted. Tags say " rules violations", "report", "abuse" and other words. We all experienced the deletion of our sites when we first came to mylot. How much do you allow for newbies? Do you watch the number of posts as I do? Do you look at the wording of the post? When do you just walk by and just go some place else? Do you feel that by telling the newbie to go and read the guidelines we are cleaning up our virtual home and helping administration? I wrote this post because I just read a member with almost 1000 posts breking all rules. GIVE ME A BREAK!!! Please share your thoughts!

I do try to help out and explain why a post is likely to get deleted, especially to a newer user. Even if the person has a seemingly high post count I will try to offer some friendly advice. I might or might not report the discussion or response as a violation when I respond to it - it all depends on how sure I am that it is a violation and how blatant the violation is. I rarely report something that I do not respond to, though, unless it is obviously plagiarized, because I am sure that they know that they copied their discussion or response.

I´m not as nice as you are, friend. I do help out newbies, but I think that older members are just doing it on purpose. But I dont report (just rate them with a minus) except if they are being rude. THAT I don´t accept. Take care!

I don't pay that much attention unless the person gets abusive or is coming into people's discussions posting referral links.

i really seldom come to this interest before for whatsoever reason that i can't tell. could be because i was concentrated in the other interests like mylot, mylot.com, life, etc. but lately, i come here more often. i still see a lot of members, especially the new-comers and when i see the posts are likely to be deleted, i give suggestions and warnings.

I just live & let live. I very seldom ever report anyone. I figure they will get caught up w/sooner or later.I think that is all some folks to on here is report people. I never did like tattletails & don't want to be one.

I can see why you are annoyed because after over one thousand posts one should definitely know better! I have to wonder when people blatantly break the rules and they are not newbies whether they just plain don’t care. As far as newbies go I will give someone one chance and advise them to check the guidelines but after that I would report them if they continued abusing the rules.

I have a couple discussion that have been delete by the admin. The reason was not promoting a site but promoting myself. Also about post that considered as a poll, or somekind like that. For the last one, I try to make a new post asking about it and the admin change the reason.
