Do you have your habit let dishes stay over night in the sink? A pile of dirty dishes waiting tomorrow to be wash? There are times when I need to be away from home for sometimes and when I come back I found my sink is full of stuff as my house keeper has a habit of letting the dishes stays over night and It make me sick.I really don't like dirty dishes stay in the sink over night, I always make sure it has to be wash before bed time as it can attract insects, and other creature in the kitchen. How about you guys? Do you have this habit or did you do it sometimes?

NO! They need to be washed right away. We used to have a dishwasher and would just fill it and sanitize all but now we don't so our only option is to wash in hot water and not let them set for long.

Yes, soaking in hot water is a good idea. And using gloves so you can be sure of good and hot water too.

Hello celticeagle, Yeah its proper to have it done right after the dinner was over, your way of cleaning them is the best in substitute of dishwasher we can soak into hot water and also known a powerful and good way to get rid of greases. Thank you for sharing and Good day

I cannot stand having my dishes left over night. The only time I will let something stand in the water is if it needs to be soaked and if it is still crusty the next day will get out the vinegar and baking soda. If one leaves the dishes piled in the sink or even in the dish washer, what happens is it is harder to get them clean. It is also healthier and makes me feel better.

If I have to leave my dishes overnight, I will soak them in water. It is the lesser of two evils. Most of the time, I will wash before I go to bed because I am not exactly a morning person.

Hi there, Exactly,I find that's really the result of leaving dishes undone and let stay overnight, you are right to say it gets harder to cleans them up when it stays over night as it turns sticky and oily. For hygiene sake we have to make it done before bed. Thanks for sharing and Good day!

When I was younger I would do this, I'd even wait a few days even because I was lazy to wash the things. Now though I am older and we put things in the dishwasher so that the only thing in the sink are usually there to be soaked overnight, which is usually the dog dishes.

Hi SomeCowgirl, Most of us when young felt lazy with this chores I even find myself being that way too, since I'm the youngest sibling I usually run away after dinner so I won't be obliged doing so.But now I learned that it has to be done before bed time for hygiene sake.I'm glad good to know you doing the same too. Thanks and Good day ahead!

It is better to get things done then to procrastinate about them. I've found that you worry your whole day a way with mindsets like "Oh I'll do it in a few minutes" and then a few minutes later "Oh I'll do it at blah blah time". Right now I need to hop to and get some chores done, so I am procrastinating and being a hypocrite all in one sitting, talk to you later, and I appreciate your comment back to me.

I do the dishes after every meal even though I only use a few dishes. I cannot stand a messy kitchen. Just a good habit that I have developed. This way I really don't need a lot of dishes. One of the advantages of living alone. If there's a mess, than I'm the one that created it. I can't blame someone else as there is no one else.

i don't allow dirty dishes and other kitchenware to pile up in the sink, cloud. washing and drying them is done immediately after use, even with plates, we wash our plates after we finish using them. you know, unclean plates, with orts and the like, attract roaches, even if your house is screened and regularly maintained by the pest control man. so, why wait for another time what you can do immediately... it only takes a few minutes to clean up kitchen mess and wash/dry them...

Before I go to bed I see to it that all the dishes are clean together with my gas range so that when I wake up in the morning I will find my kitchen tidy and it brings me a feeling of freshness when I see everything in place. I too can't sleep if I know that I have an unfinished job waiting.

hi cloud31 nope when I was doing my own dishes I washed the dishes and cleaned the kitchen after every meal. I also hate living dirty dishes and pots and pans in the sink to draw insects. Never did leave them overnight but when I was in the hospital having a hysterectomy my hubby left them pile up and I was not one happy camper so he did do them as I was still recovering from surgery. but he was not happy about it but he did do every other chore in the house so could not be too unhappy with him,No I never ever went to bed and left dirty dishes over night. for one thing here in Southern California we have these giant cockroaches and leaving dirty dishes is a sure call to them if even one is already in your house. Of course the manager to our apt had the outer part of all our apts sprayed all the time against roaches and o ther varmints.

I like to let dishes soak in soapy water for a while, sometimes overnight if I over cooked something and it got stuck to the bottom of the pan.

Hi cloud! I am afraid to admit that although I hate to leave dishes in the sink, I am sometimes at fault for doing this too! I usually eat kind of late in the evening and sometimes I just don't feel like washing the dishes, especially if the pots are really messed up and need to soak! I know I shouldn't do this for fear of insects too! But, I do sometimes leave them until the next day! I know that now that the weather is going to get warmer I will definitely have to stop this habit or I surely will have "creepy crawlers"! But, then again, I don't do much cooking in the warmer weather!lol

You have to tell your housekeeper what you want. Indeed, it is not good to let unwashed dishes stay in the sink the whole evening because all sorts of dirty creatures like roaches, mice, etc. will crawl around and even leave their dirt. That's very bad for your health. You have to tell your housekeeper this. I think she's the lazy type. I never leave dirty dishes on the sink overnight. As much as possible I want the dishes washed immediately after use. That is what our housekeeper does.

You are right, I did told her about this before but when I'm not at home she may might forget doing so finally I find it out[em]lol[/em.But anyway I agree with you it has to be done before bedtime its not really right leaving things in the sink as I have said its really unhygienic and it can be the reason to catch diseases. Thanks and Happy myLotting!

I love food,so an impulse, but also fear fry cook.T try to do their own vision of the food,bu also a great leasure in life. The only dishes, which was a real torment. Cooking, the stomach is empty;dinner ready, you can imagine and enjoyed some, the spirit of change could not help but greatly enncouraged. And dinner is done, people are lazy, do not want to move,so look greasy or fishy look pots and pans, goingg to wash them, put neat, really harder than climbing. A frend said she dished from childhood,to the practice of it,she loves washing now .Unfortunately,ah,can not marry her,or I can be much less suffering.

I don't really wash the dishes. It has been always my brother's job and he does that. He always leaves all the dishes overnight and washes it the next day. It's kinda annoying but all of us don't mind. As long as he does his job, then that's fine. =)

Certainly! harhar to that. I hate washing the dishes. I can do the laundry, clean the house, garden, go to the market, but I cant stand washing the dishes. It makes my hands numb.. or maybe is it the water that makes my hands numb? I dont know. Good thing my brother always make it a point to wash the dishes. In return, i give him money every pay day!

I do not mind if the dishes sit in the sink and wait until tomorrow to get cleaned up. There's not that many dishes in my house so that may be why. If there were lots of them I'm certain that my wife would wash them before we went to bed as she doesn't like dirty dishes in the sink either. Maybe it's a woman thing

I do sometimes let dishes set, but it is a bad habit, and one I wouldn't want a housekeeper to have. You are totally correct that it attracts insects and can also make a stink. If I were paying someone to keep my home clean, I would expect them to have the dishes done before they retire for the evening.

We really can't leave dishes in the sink and so we tried to have it done and for the dishwasher I used to have one but it keeps breaking as well I guess its better for us for manual washing.lol. Thanks jugs,Great day ahead!

I always have a habit of doing this. When my husband does the dishes he keeps up with them. We take turns doing the dishes as well as the other chores around the house. I remember when I was living at home with my parents my mom would get mad at us for letting them stack up.
