Years ago, Filipinos were angry and helped topple down the regime of Ferdinand Marcos. It was heralded by the death of Ninoy aquino. As if to insult the countrymen who marched to the streets during the EDsA 1 , 3 Marcoses won their post in the recent election. Imee Marcos won governorship. Bongbong is now a senator. Imelda also won although I can't recall what post is it. Are Filipinos forgetful or we are just born forgiving people?

I'm American so I don't know the full story, but my wife who is a Phil, explained the story to me, and told me about the People's Power Revolution. Then I heard the stories about police rule, and curfews, and assinations, and murders of anyone who went against Marcos, and then the ruthlessness of the Marcoses. The communist like dicator that tortured, and held the Philippines captive. And I'm thinking wow these are horrible evil people. Then I see that the family is running for political office, and I ask my wife "Are they crazy? Who would vote for them?" I said if I were them I wouldn't dare show my face anywhere in the Phil, I would move to America and hide like Imelda Marcos. She told me that she was back in the Philippines. I said "What?! Wtf? who let her back in?" I'm thinking these people have got to be stupid. Then today I'm reading that the Marcos family is actually winning elections. One had over 12 million votes. WTF? Something is going on. When I hear the phils talk about them I know its not forgiveness. Either there are alot of really stupid people in the phil, are the Marcoses are up to their old tricks again.

Not just stupid, but very ignorant, forgetfull who doesn't remember history and worse, blinded... Personally, i would have been offended but as it turns out a lot has been deceived.so, definitely, if there's another comedian from US that would insult us here, why bother complaining, the election speaks for itself. you know the worse part of that, is IMELDA MARCOS was the main reason why his HUSBAND really has a bad image in history because of her. there had been more poor now in this country so literacy is out of the question

Yeah I wouldn't call Jimmy Kimmel a comedian. He's a over glorified radio dj, that's stretching out his 15 minutes of fame through his comedian wife. His show is so bad he has to say really controversial things like that to get attention. I think one of the big problems is that there are still alot of the marcoses buddies in the phil government. A few of them are regarded as heroes of the people, but are actually false heroes. The whole government needs a makeover. I'm not saying the U.S. government is any better, but we can handle it. The phils really deserve something better.

There was a better candidate (not the Winner Noynoy Aquino) but unfortunately people are swayed with fame, popularity and celebrities and they're stupid song jingles. despite of his perfect track record he lost. reshaping the government by changing the mind set of the people. and that my friend my candidate tried but with people are not so ready to accept the truth he didn't win. I think Adam Carolina was the worse for me, he should research before he could comment about a country. other celebrities say somethign bad about my country but at least to some of them, they were right.

...and the ironic thing is that they gonna work under Noynoy Aquino's governance. We can't deny the fact that inspite of what has been in the history, they still have a solid loyalist. Imee won as governor, Imelda won as congresswoman and hopefully since there is no official result yet, Bong Marcos is for senator. Noynoy was advised that the Marcoses be forgiven...now the world turned the other way around. Have you noticed? before Marcos was the President and Ninoy was a Senator, we both know that they were the fathers of Noynoy Aquino and Bong Marcos, who is now the President and senator respectively. What's the next chapter? Will history repeats? Before it was the fathers rival now here comes the sons...Will Bong be an opposition of Noynoy?

Very ironic, right? LOL. Before, Marcos was the President and Aquino was a senator. Now, It's Noynoy who's now our President and Bongbong on a Senate position. Ferdinand Marcos is the most brilliant president of Philippine History. My grandfather and father admired him very much until the martial law. And of course, one of his downfall was Imelda. As for Imelda and Imee - it's the same story that goes to GMA in Pampanga. They are on their territorial field. So as expected, they are being treated with admiration. I just hope that these two, Noynoy and Bongbong, will never allow themselves to have history repeated. Not only it is painful, but somehow. It will break the hearts of many, many Filipinos who casted their votes and placed their hopes in them - that somehow, starting this year. It will be the time for the Philippines to bounce back from being a bottom feeder. =) Cheers! =)

Noynoy seems very unlikely to declare Marshall Law.besides, he listens to people around him and that was why he ran.I think that he will be good enough to take things at democratic perspective

The regime of the Marcoses where horrifying to the Filipinos. I was like not yet born when he ruled Philippine. Though I hear lot of stories and read newspapers and magazines about his reign. At first I was mad at Ferdinand Marcos himself. But when more tales from my teachers and elders, I came to realize that I do not think it is his entire idea to those. Remember that there are some under him who can make the rules to. And I think Imelda Marcos (btw. I totally dislike her). also had something to do behind all that fuses that Marcos did. I don't think just because the father made the mistake the kids who won the position are like him. They may be blood-related but when it comes to work I am sure they are different. And besides, I would be okay with the kids running.... But Imelda.... PLEASE! She has a lot of issues!!!!

Hello mimiang, I was completely caught off guard and didn't know that Imelda ran for congress and WON! what is going on here?! aren't people been reading history about how things were done in the past. I know bong bong and Imee had nothing to do with it (except they're mom) but some how people should have been more criticizing!

Yes, the advocate was right. they have gone to universities abroad during their father's presidency and have spent much from the Philippine treasury. I wonder what lies ahead. Our politics is complicated more by people who voted for them.

Amnesiac more like it. Imelda is now a member of Congress. She will see GMA when Congress convenes. Yikes! Like you I am appalled how easily we forget. I cannot believe that after only 25 years they are forgiven. I understand Ilocos carrying the Marcoses (and Erap) to victory, but the rest of the nation?! It's probably the demographics of the voters. A lot of the voters now were not yet born when it happened.

Kid, Bongbong is anything but a good politician. I hate to burst your bubble but you have not been reading history. He has done a lot where? Don't believe the propaganda. Ilocos was developed by his father, not him, and so technically he has not done a lot. He was already an adult during the Marcos years and the siblings are all complicit in hiding the wealth. Why do you think the PCGG is after them? It is not a mango/jackfruit apropos because Bongbong has shown that he is the same fruit as his father. This is not supposition. As someone who lived through the Marcos years, I saw firsthand how he felt that it was his birthright to be president. It is not. It will never be.

well, the marcoses are always in polictics, ilocos is their stronghold. born forgiving people and a little stupid also. i think it will take more than my generation to remove the mentality that being popular is enough to give our vote to them.

Imelda just won congresswoman in her district. I said in other posts that i've nothing against bonbong. So far he managed to keep a very low profile and i have yet to hear any controversial issues involving him but it's really imelda whose giving me the goosebumps. I was still too young to fully comprehend what they did to our country during the marcos years but as grow up i learned that they literally strip us of everything. As discussed in the news this morning, imelda admitted to PCGG that the marcoses have one trillion dollars in a citibank account in new york. The PCGG wants to make a compromise and just want a slice of that! come on! that's public money. The right thing to do is to get every cent of it and imelda should even go to jail for stealing it. to add insult to injury, she just won a seat in congress. I really think there's something wrong with us.

I don't think Filipinos have forgotten all those things the Marcoses have caused us, We are just forgiving people. Look at Erap, he is second to Noynoy. That of Estrada's is more fresh than that with the Marcoses. Although some people doesn't believe with the plunder case filed against him which he denies until now, we can't forget that he actually admitted in his interview with Pia Hontiveros that he had signed several documents as Jose Velarde.

For me its just ok if they're back in the scene. I don't think they still can do all they want. Filipinos are watching them now. But its just weird to think that two great rivals are now so close again in philippine politics. It feels me more exciting on what will happen in the next months with these two families.
