I am reading a great book "The Four Spititual Laws of Prosperity" by Edwine Gaines. She explains how important it is to tithe. If you are not sure what tithe means, it means "to return 105 of all we recieve to a person, place, or institution from which we have received spiritual food". I am not talking about giving to your favorite charity. that is something all together different. So do you tithe? I have always heard of this but didn't really understand the concept. Now that I do, it will be somethng i begin right away. What about you, do you tithe and is that something you would consider doing in your life.

I was always thought that savings is great to do in life. Better yet, I feel that one should always pay oneself first before all bills, every month. %10 is good and fine but really the minimum one should save. Save it in some sound investment account, such as money market account, one that pays you interest or dividends. Thus, your saved money also generates you additional residual income.

this is not about saving money. yes yes and yes you should always set aside money into your savings account each month. however what i am talking about is giving 10% of that income to people and or organzations that feed your soul. that give you want you need at that moment in time to bring you that aha moment. or that moment of joy

OH I know what you meant, hence my answer. I am sure if you follow it, you will tons of moments of joy, specially when it rains. I don't meant to be or sound ungrateful, but in 45 years, my short, life. I have yet to see a church or religious entity say, come forth to my rescue ever. If I am going to give money, it will be to someone I really feel needs it or some I will feel like giving it cause it gives me that much joy.

God did not ask you ever, for a portion of your income. Its men kind who word that bullish thought in the bible so that all insecure dependents will follow and out of ignorance as well as fear will give up their earnings, hence support them. They don't do a dorn thing, but talk, while people like you and I get to sweat for that money. So the answer is NO, save it and use it best way you may know.

Hello, I'm sorry I still dont really understand what it is you are trying to say. You say 'tithe' does not mean giving to charity, so who or what do you give back to. What would be your definition of 'spirtual food', is this food, health, or wealth. Maybe it's none , I'm not sure. Sounds an interesting subject if you could explain the ideas slightly clearer. Have a sweet, loving day.

hi there haddowz... it means to give to any person, church, or organzation. if you are having one of those days and your best friends gives you some advice that just lifted your spirits then you would tithe to that person. you can give them you whole %10 or you can brake it up and give to a bunch of people, churches or organzations. if you read a book that touched you spiritually you can tithe to the author. who ever and however you want. just as long as you give to those who feed your soul

Hello, I think I understand what you mean by 'tithe' . Basically the same principle as tipping a waiter in a restaurant who has served you well. YES ! Have a smooth uplifting day...

I have to say that the only one feeding my soul these days is me. The government feeds my purse but I spend it on food and bills and therefore keeping others employed. Churches these days are businesses and don't need to screw their members out of their hard earned cash but they do it anyway, those that expect tithes do anyway. It's shameful in my book.

I'm here most of the time, mainly reading. I'm holding my breath to see the results of your first business meeting and to find out who has come on board with you.

Yes I tithe and offering too, so I do about 15-17% 10% tithe, and 5-7% for my local church; I am not faithful with it but working to making it so. That is a goal for this year. I believe in it and sorry I didn't do it sooner. I am. but needless to say, that is a great principle. Another book that is good it George Clason, "The Richest Man in Babylon" which doesn't speak on tithing, but great on how to handle your money and get out of a tight fix.

i think i heard of that book before, thanks for the recommendation! i just might have to treat myself to it. i think it's important to make it a part of your life. i think the problem that people have with it that don't go to church think that have to only give to church. and that is just not the case. you give to any person, group, or organzation that feeds your soul. all the best to you my wonderful friend. always good to see ya girl

Hello 34momma, I really wanted to do this every month, because every Sunday in our teaching our preacher would always encourage to tithe. But honestly, I can not religiously do this every month but I make sure I would give something to the Church. But lately, when I received an unexpected money online, I made sure the 10% of it will go to Church. Good thing they have paypal account so I immediately transferred 10% of the money to them. Take care and have fun mylotting red_amethyst

I give as much as I can but I don't think it reaches the prescribed percentage which is supposed to be 10%. I really try to, but I'm getting there

We are Presbyterian and this is not a requirement for our church. We give what we can, not what someone tells us to.

hi 34momma well ten percent of nothing would not help anyone but yes I do know what you mean and when I could get to church I did always tithe but here in the this retirement center with my bad'leg and no way to g et to a church, I have not really been able to do that. If I could go regularly I would although what little I have is really very little once the Gold Crest people take rent and broad out of my sociaL security and ssi checks I get just enough to barely cover my personal needs. but I am for tithing.

I don't know what that means but I will help others if I could and want to..well, luckily for me, my heart is not numb enough to just ignore other people suffering...I hope it will stay that way, but who knows in the future...maybe I would become a cold person..if that would happen I hope I'm blessed enough to get some preach and a pinch to wake me up from the one I love that human by nature likes to help each other..

I have always tithed my salary but after I have stayed at home I do not have a consistent income so there are times I cannot tithe. I can attest the benefit of tithing because i have experienced it firsthand. First and foremost tithe is part of worship. That is something we ought to give back to God, not that God needs our money because we know he doesn't need it. Tithing is part of obeying God we all know when it comes to money most of us are so close fisted. It's hard to give out even the smallest cent. This is a command that has a promise attach to it. He said when we give our tithe he will shut the mouth of the devourer, fill our vats to overflowing, it will be pressed, shaken and running over, He will open the floodgates of heaven.

Honestly, I haven't given my tithes for a long time now. I think ever since I got work, it was harder to tithe. I don't know why it was easier when I was a student. Maybe because I was more idealistic then. I was more comfortable then because I knew I had a steady source of income (parents). But when I started working, it was harder to tithe. Now, even if my income is comparably larger than my allowance as a student, it seems like it's never enough! It's so weird. But anyway, I'm gonna start changing this bad habit of not tithing. Thanks for the topic. God bless you.

I help out others, without expecting anything in return. Some places i donate to always wants to hand me some kind of proof, that i've given so that i can write it off on my taxes, but i always refuse. I give from my heart, rather it's giving a homeless person $5, when i'm waiting at a red light or leaving a few bags of dog food, on my neighbor's doorstep, who can always use the food for her dogs. On a holiday, i'll just go and knock on someone's door and hand them a plate of food and give them a hug. They'll ask my name and i just tell them my first name and say God bless you and have a nice day. Doing things like this gives me more pleasure, then going to church and drop'in money in the basket, helping the pastor pay his expensive car note or mortgage.
