Just how much weight have you gained? Obesity is not having a few extra pounds it's having enough weight to be an additional person. If you are 10, 20 or 30 pounds over the recommended weight for your height that is not obese. Did the doctor actually use that word? Also, has this been a gradual weight gain or did you suddenly blow up several sizes in clothing? There are many things that contribute to weight gain including metabolism and thyroid activity. You need to slow down and take a deep breath and really examine the situation and be sure you are not overreacting. You have not given us enough information here though to really be able to give you any real advice.

55 pounds is not insurmountable. You just have to eat healthy and try to get some regular exercise like walking or swimming.

Like another had said make sure the Dr runs tests to determine if it is purely just due to stress. Then you will have to not only exercise but change your eating habbits as well. Eating more veggies, meat and less carbs help many people.

Thank you I will definitely do so I plan to go back at the end of this week to have another check up because the other doctor was an idiot. So a second opinion is always nice

first you need to relax... you need to stop stressing out. even if you are not over eating, stress can cause weight gain. You need to figure out what you are stressed about, and fix it. if it's something that has to just play itself out, you have to understand that and let it be. you can't stress over things you can't not change in the moment. I would make sure you are eating 4-5 small meals each day. drinks plenty of water, and do at least 30 minutes of work out every day to every other day. keep your head up and relax.. if you got this way, then you can change it

First I would check with my doctor and make sure that there isn't any hormonal imbalance. Next keep a food diary then you can go over it and see exactly what you are eating and the calories. Besides working out do some muscle strengthening exercises as well. This will help to increase your metabolism. Never not eat this only triggers our body to store store store fat. Set yourself goals a little at a time I think this helps to keep you from getting overwhelmed. Remember we do not gain it over night and it wont go away over night. That was my hardest thing at getting discouraged. I had gained weight when I got married 2 yrs ago. I am now working on losing it. I joined a gymn in february I have lost 15 pounds. At first I was like whats the point. Then I just had to realize one day at a time. I have kept the 15 off for over a month now so that was encouraging to me. Stay Positive! Good Luck

There are three words that I can recommend: Motivation, Diet and exercise. If you are religious enough to follow a strict diet regimen and go to the gym regularly, then there is a great chance of loosing weight. However, there are some people who won't loose weight because of Hormonal imbalances or genetic predisposition. You need to have a consult with your physician to further monitor your health status.
