As a consumer what would you do?

As a consumer, if you found out that BP was just trying to get money out of us, and though the Rig did go down, not nearly as much oil was spilled, how would you react? Would you be mad and readying a letter of distaste to them? Would you go so far as to sue them for the rise in gas prices? Would you ban together and get a petition signed an notorized that stated half of America would not be buying gas from BP?

I don't think legal action is worth it, its too long and costly. In my humble opinion people should boycott them and send out a clear message that its not our problem and we as the consumer should not have to pay for every mistake companies make. We have started to cut down on gas usage in general to save money and go green and feel BP needs to handle this on their own as its their problem.

I mean, I definitely agree it would be stupid to sue them but was wondering what others thought of that option. Yeah Boycotting them would be more worth it and be better to get the point across. I hardly watch the news anymore so don't know exactly what is going on there.

I just read an article about a company that benefited from child soldiers in Africa, the name slips my mind so will find out but in short they apologized and nobody took notice and their business fell 15% . Look at Nike, bad practice will hurt sales and brand image no matter what and that cost can't be passed on to other consumers.

Whatever the case, I think they deserve at least a letter of distaste for how they are handling the situation. I don't think it is fast enough. A lot of sealife is being disrupted that could alter the environmental balance in the area. I currently don't go to BP to fill up. I don't intend to go to their stations specially with this incident.

I seem to not be buyuing gas from BP at all I havent even seen a station here at all. I just might do that if I wasnt seeing the oil running in the gulf and going up the east coast.

If I found very definite proof that this was a hoax or done to get money out of us then I would try to get some people banded together and get a petition. I would go on the television and radio, contact everyone I could think of. I would research the situation and let the public know what I found.
