Do you skip meals?

I do my best to eat at scheduled times. I know that when I start really feeling the hunger, that's when the bad cravings set in, and the bad judgement! If I eat on schedule then I'm less likely to get hungry, and less likely to give in to nasty little temptations! Yesterday I skipped lunch. I woke up late, so had a late breakfast. I went to the gym to workout, but the class I wanted to take was cancelled when I got there, so I turned around and came home. It was too early for lunch at that point, but the kids had their lunch. We decided to go out for the day, and didn't get back home until dinner time. Hubby got microwavable meals for the kids, but I don't find those to be healthy enough for me, and I couldn't really think of what else to eat.. so I kept putting dinner off while trying to come up with a healthier option. Unfortunately that lack of eating throughout the day came back to bite me in the butt last night. After I finally ate dinner I did not feel satisfied.. I was hungry all night! Around 9pm I made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but even that didn't stop me from feeling hungry. Thankfully though I did not continue to eat anything else. So I've learned my lesson.. never again will I skip a meal for any reason! Do you skip meals? Do you find that you're hungrier later in the day after skipping a meal?

I don't intentionally skip meals, but sometimes I get busy with things and I totally forget that I have not eaten. I don't eat first thing in the morning, so I don't normally eat anything till after I take Jeremy to school. Breakfast time for me is around 9-10 am. There are some days that I don't realize that I have not eaten anything else until I am picking Jeremy up from school at 3:30 pm and my stomach growls. By that time I usually wait till dinner time to eat anything. My main problem is snacking at night. I never really thought about it, but it could be the lack of eating during the daytime.

I can't eat first thing in the morning. It makes my stomach hurt. I guess part of that is a good thing because I can make the kids pancakes, bacon, and eggs and not eat any of the fatty bacon. lol I buy granola bars and I do eat those. I just never thing to eat them in the morning.

I was like that too, and still am to an extent.. depends on the day. Some days I'm really hungry when I wake up, some days I'm not, but I do force myself to choke down some cereal anyways. Sometimes I'll eat a few bites and be done, but at least I ate something.

I would bet that it is. Try to keep some cereal bars or granola bars on hand and eat that as soon as you wake up.. then obviously you have to feed the kids lunch, so eat at that time as well. Try it for awhile and see if your evening snacking minimizes at all.

Yes...and if I don't feel like cooking sometimes and just have cereal for supper I find the same thing happens...sometimes I have to get up during the night to try to find something to take care of the hungries!

I try not to skip meals. Even if it's just something simple to eat like an apple or yogurt that's fast is what I do for something like breakfast. And of course mornings turn into a big rush most of the time and I don't always have time after taking care of everyone else to get them out the door. I used to skip meals when I was younger to avoid teasing in school as they scrutinized a gal who was much larger than I and I figure if they are counting all that she's eating I could be the next victim and I had already spent 2 yrs before that being a victim.

My sister does that too, she refuses to eat in front of others.. probably for the same reason, because she is overweight.

Hey kats! Nice going! You have really learned how to control yourself well! If it was the "old you" you probably would have given into the pangs of hunger and had whatever you wanted! But, now that you have lost the weight and stayed on the regimen you have really learned what it is like to just say "no" and stop yourself from eating whatever you feel like! I still have a problem with that, but am trying! But, with me since I don't eat breakfast or lunch and eat really late at night and make that my only meal, which is totally wrong I am at least trying to stop my "during the night" cravings! I am also starting to walk now that the weather has gotten nicer! So, maybe in time I will get myself into some better eating habits too!

Might I suggest start by eating breakfast and lunch. It doesn't have to be much.. honestly all I eat for breakfast is like half a bowl of cereal, I've never been a breakfast person. That with some coffee and I somehow manage to make it through till lunch!

I stop skipping meals now because I read about it in a medical journal, that skipping meals don't make us lose weight. It makes us gain weight! Yes it's surprising. I don't believe it either, at first. Its all because our body has rate of metabolism that goes faster when we have much food in our stomach to digest. When we skip meals, the rate will goes down and you'll digest your food very slowly. Slow rate metabolism is bad for your health as it may cause illness. It will be the result if we use to skip meals. In my opinion,Breakfast is very important for all of us.If we don't take our breakfast then it will harm our stomach adversely. Its best to eat all the meals,as it is necessary for our well being.

Skipping meals makes us gain weight because we overeat later in the day, and there's not enough time to burn off all the calories we've consumed. If we eat at 3 or 4 different times a day it's easier to burn off those calories throughout the course of the day.

I don't really have any set meal times. I just basically eat when I'm hungry. I know that's bad and what not, but I don't really see the point in eating when I'm not hungry. I can go most of the day without eating and never feel hungry. But the minute I do eat something that day, I'm hungry for the rest of the day. I've never really been able to understand it. I've tried eating on a somewhat regular schedule, but just can't seem to stick with it or be in a place where I can eat at that time. Good luck to those who can accomplish that goal.

You're hungry for the rest of the day because you're skipping those meals! You can always pack lunches to bring with you when you're out, that way you don't have to skip your meals anymore.

I work very early in the morning and unfortunately when i have to get up two hours before i start the last thing i feel like doing is eating my breakfast. This is meant to be one of the most important meals of the day. Normally what happens is at around 8am i end up feeling unwell. I have tried to combat this problem now by drinking smoothies this seems to work for me. xx

Well, Many people think that by skipping a meal they will lose weight but that's not true. Skipping meals will never help you lose weight. Actually, it can help you gain weight since it causes your metabolism to slow down and encourages the storage of calories as fat. It lowers your blood sugar therefore causes sudden hunger pangs, food cravings and you end up bingeing. I wish you be healthy and as you promised that you are not going to skip your meals, I wish you all the best and always keep in mind. I too never skip my meals. If you need to lose weight, the best way to achieve is by eating the right foods for your body at regular intervals. Thanks.

I used to be one that would frequently skip meals, but I'm trying to break that habit. I want to lose all of the excess baggage that I've been packing around and I know that if you don't eat right then it is not something that is possible to do. So, I try to eat some good cereal for breakfast, something for lunch and then dinner. I will also have a small snack every now and then, but I try to stick to those things that are healthier.

Same here. I don'r skip meals because I would have upset stomach and then whatever I eat later couldn't satisfy me. Also, if I skip a meal, I feel weak and would rater sleep rather that do something.

There are instances that I had to skip meals to be early at work for a meeting. Although travelling to work I manage to eat like a granola bar and some water to at least not be in an empty stomach. Sometimes I have a good brunch at least to adjust to the meals.

Hi i try not to skip meals. Atleast have 3 square meals( non junk) if not the snacks at tea time. That's because the results of poor eating don't show now but after a period of time. Hence you wanna stay healthy eat right and eat good. Some people may say they are overweight and hence eat less. But eatiing less doesn't do u any gud. There's no one who will be overweight if you do enough exercise. You don have to go to a gym for that. We can do all our work by ourself. Avoid cars whenever possible. Make a small walk to buy your grocery and occasionally do the laundry and where ther's a will there's a way.

When I'm home, I usually don't eat lunch. Probably because I'm not doing enough to really work up a hunger. I'm out of work right now.But I am registered with Express Employment. So usually, once a month, I work at a call center for about a week or two. When I'm working I do need lunch. But it can be light, even a granola bar will hold me until dinner. But I prefer those small Michelina's meals. They're cheap, better than a peanut butter sandwich and only $1. I'll buy two of those for a week (again when I'm working) and the rest of the week either bbring a sandwich or have a granola bar.

Skip meals, never. Well except for last week when the company catered breakfast and I had already eaten. That day I didn't eat lunch, but I didn't need to.

No i don't skip meal because it will never help me reduce my weight but instead will add up to my present weight right now. Im a breakfast eater, then my next meal was my lunch. after that was a light snack at about 3or 4 in the afternoon and my last meal for the day was our dinner. It is said by the doctors that frequent light meals was better than 3 heavy meals in a day so i just take the advice of the experts plus the fact that i am really used to that even when im still young. Good day!

generally i don't eat breakfast, i tend to have a light snack mid morning, i sometimes skip lunch too, i know it sounds bad, but i am not a huge eater these days. I just eat healthy stuff during the day, and a main meal in the evening before 6pm and that does me. I guess everyone is different.

Yes, I often skipped breakfast because I was late going to the office. I would be hungry till it was time for lunch. I would eat many things at lunch because I felt so hungry and regretted after. Sometimes, I would eat breakfast at 10am, then eat lunch at around 3pm. Yes, my dinner would be late, too, around 9 - 10pm. I told myself that I could not skip breakfast, it is very essential for health (I read somewhere in health news). I can skip lunch or dinner but I cannot not skip breakfast. Still, often circumstances make us do otherwise.
