MyLot Discussions!!!

I don't know, why discussions get silent after sometime on mylot. Some discussions get interesting and you want them to go on. Whenever I post a discussion, after some time, its in peace, lol! No new comments. I guess, its the way mylot, presents the discussions to its users. I mean, "First in Last out", getting more specific, the most recent on the top. I think its the psychology of the user to click on the top most discussions. Is my guess right or are there some other reasons??

Maybe the starter of the discussion doesn't come back and comment on the responses? That is what keeps a discussion alive and kicking and every time it receives any activity it will appear in the 'recent' tab and in the 'similar topics' to the right It is up to the user who started it to keep it going. They can do that just by adding a comment. I have some of mine from years ago that still keep going just because each time they receive a response or a comment from a user I go back to them. More users, who might have joined myLot after they were first posted and be unaware of them, will then see them and might respond.

I always respond back to the users who comment on my discussions. Its not that I want to prolong the discussion but I think, not to respond is rude. Thanks! gr8 hints!! 15023!! You have spent some life here!! lol!

Maybe because when you get a very long discussion it branches out an idea for a new discussion so instead of continuing it into the old one, some people make a new discussion for that topic..

In doing so, they are definitely going to lose some the users from the previous discussion. Many people, many views! :)

I think we usually go for "top discussions", "recent discussions", "new discussions", "friends started".. And so on. All of the discussions that show up on those pages, are organized by the time in which someone last responded, best to my knowledge. I like responding to active discussions, rather than discussions from 2-3 years ago that only have a few responses. Because you know, then, that the person who started the discussion probably isn't active here anymore and won't respond back (which is what makes everything interesting if you ask me). Occasionally I'll search for a particular topic that hasn't been talked about in a few years..And end up responding. It would be nice to have an extra tab, maybe, such as super popular ones from years ago that are now inactive..*shrugs*.

Thanks buddy! I'm not crazy about response. In fact, I don't start a discussion for the purpose of getting more comments or something. I always think of something genuine and come up with it!! I discuss that, which is on my mind!! cool trick, anyway! ;)

There are just times when there are few people logged in myLot. If you wanna get a lot of responses to your discussion, take the time and calculate when is there too many people here and when is it too few. Then post a discussion when you think there are too many logged in user. The only downside is you'll be competing with the others' discussions as well so you better make an interesting one and just make it simple. I find it that there seem to be more replies to discussions that are simple to understand but interesting at the same time.

Time is so precious!! It would be taking a lot of time! I think "Reposting" or "Moving on" is the best practice.
