It was on the news today..The mother said that she hit her daughter with a thick wood because the child ate the fish that was supposed to be their supper without asking for permission--she was even still holding the wood when they got to the police...fortunately the kid didn't die...The kid was to be turned over to the DSWD- institution where abandoned and abused kids are taken to. I kind of pity both of them..the child must have been just really hungry; while the mother may be very troubled and just so upset that she lost it..But I can never imagine my mom hitting me and bruising me.. I hope nothing like this ever happens again, although I doubt it...

Hi, lady1993. She must have been very troubled. To hit her daughter in the head with a thick wood! She should have fed her daughter. She just flipped. If her kids ate something and was told not to, it is because they were very hungry. They want something to eat. That is nothing for her to abuse her child for. She should have just found something new for her family to eat. I wonder if this woman was really poor. Because being poor with a stringent budget, may make someone whom is easily angered, do something like this. I am not saying that any one who is poor, but just someone that is very angry. I hope that her daughter is okay. This mom needs to be sentenced to some jail time. She could have burst a blood vessel in her child's skull. Having a lack of food should be no issue when it comes to a child.

It was so touching because the kid even said that she didn't want her mom to go to prison and that she would just be the one to go away so she won't be hurt anymore...

dear lady, it is very sad to read violence because of food matters. do you imagine how it would be in places where it is very very much poorer and food scarce? ann

this is really sad... how can a mother do that to her child just because of food??? she must have some mental problems and really depressed to be able to do that to her child... anyway, i'm glad that the child had been taken away and i hope the mother gets the punishment that she deserved... take care and have a nice day...

The news is full of crazy stories like this every day...some much worse. Not sure what their circumstances are. It could be that the mom is just crazy or it could be that she was just overly stressed and that fish was their only food...nothing makes it right but just saying....maybe the mom isn't a monster. I can't imagine hitting my child with anything at all. One thing is for sure is that both the mother and the child will suffer way beyond this incident.

a mother should love her child. mistakes were made, the fault of children in general. should not be beaten, but enough to be understanding, or at dinner he should not eat fish because fish have been her meal. mother attitude like this is not good. I'm not going to do something like that to my child. Any mistakes made by my son, I'll try to be patient and not angry. I will give the sense that what he did was wrong.

Ah yes, this is truly a saddening news. We shouldn't be quick to judge the mother. I guess, when you're just so poor, you become desperate. I'm sure she didn't mean to hit her child but it's just that like lady1993 said, she was probably just so pressured and hungry as well. Maybe she was also tired. While that is no excuse to hit a child, but just imagine how grumpy you would be if you worked the whole day and wasn't able to eat anything. And imagine, you only eat once a day! You barely eat but you also have to feed other people as well. So anyway, situations like these are hard and sad to know about. I also pray that incidents like these would be minimal at most.
