What do you do for good health?

Health is as important as life itself in that if one is healthy, it means being happy. doing things that one wants to do, working well and being comfortable. Being healthy means so much more than material wealth. That is why a person must take good care of his or her health. I started running long distance since I was in my early twenties. I was a ex-marathon runner and have been running for more than 15 years now. I have been enjoying good state of health and would like to share that health is indeed very vital to our lives. Besides running long distances, I abstain from eating chicken, beef, mutton and eats only fish, vegetables,grains and fruits. Every weekends, I wakes up early and starts running by 7 am in the morning and would spend at least 2 hours exercising. Everyday, I sit in meditation for at least an hour in the early mornings. People do many things to stay healthy. What do you do for good health?

Hi ketping8889, thanks for sharing the ways how you keep yourself healthy. It's not easy to follow all these regularly and strictly but you having been doing them so well. I did sit in meditation five days a week for a few years. I was rather busy and ran out time to spend more than an hour for meditation therefore I shift to taijiquan later. I usually practice taijiquan in the morning before breakfast. I have my regular jogging for 30 minutes or so daily in the evening. I take at least three types of different vegetables and two types of fruits daily. I eat chicken and fish twice in a week. Besides I drink the required amount of filter water everyday. I try not to stay up late and have proper sleep. but occassionaly I still couldn't discipline myself strictly. Anyway I hope by doing so, could keep my body healthy and fit Take care and happy posting exercise, health, meditation, deep breathing, dscipline

I am indeed very thankful to have the opportunity to share with you and everyone about this very great health routine which had helped me and is still helping me in making a difference in my life. I couldn't imagine what would have become of me if not for it, honestly. Ya, your regular routine is also recommendable. Obviously, you are also very health conscious and is taking care of yourself very well. That's good!! But it will be helpful to bear in mind that the technique of food preparation adopted. Eating it fresh, boiling or steaming help to retain most of the vitamin and nutrients contents while frying will destroy vitamins and certain nutrients of our food.It is also advisable to have regular health check at least yearly to determine your state of health and guiding you towards optimal health. . You are very much welcome dear Yeah,it's really nice to have friends sharing with what we know on interesting topics. This is the main reason I like loggin this site during my leisure. There are lots of fun to interact with friends with common interest here freely. this fantastic planet yet have lots of funny activitirs for us to explore. It's not wise to let go the opportunity to enjoy the funs and happiness available here. I belive healthy people have more chances... therefore health conscious is the topmost...Besides healthy and nutritive foods, we need clean water that contains various minerals. We need to have proper rest as well as regular exercise. I always try to have positive thinking and hope this could keep me in the happy mood all the time

I can see that you maintaining a very healthy life style. I doubt there a very few people can do that, because it requires strong tenacity to maintain such a daily routine. Therefore, you deserve a very excellent health. To me, health is as important as life as well. In order to maintain good health, I not only emphasize on having regular exercise. I am particular on my diet as well. I will minimize the consumption of meat, and having more vegetables and foods. Besides, supplements are very important to ensure we are getting a balanced diet, which contains minerals and vitamins that rarely exists in our ordinary daily meals.

I appreciate your response cheongyc(2160). Keeping fit and maintaining our health do require disipline and hardwork so you are right that not everyone can do that. I do agree that beside exercising, there are actually 4 secrets which I realised w are important for maintaining good health. The first one is to spend time spiritually with our GOD daily or at least say a prayer and remember HIM. The second secret is to do good always and have peace of mind and there should be nothing negative when you adjourn to bed. Thirdly, consume balanced, healthy diet daily and supplements may be required. Drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. Lastly,have sufficent sleep with at least 7 to 8 hours daily. From what you have shared cheongyc(2160), I can definately believe that you are a very healthy person and it's wonderful sharing knowledge with you.

Thanks for sharing the best health maintaining secrets that you have. I am glad that I am practicing most of that, except the frequent prayer and ample time of sleep. Doing good deeds will keep us happy unknowingly, and thus keeping our body healthy. Similarly, I think positive thinking help a lot as well. When we think something good, so will our body and health. I usually pray when I feel anxious or uneasy. I pray for world peace, and also hope that man kind adopt vegetarian diet and do less animal killing. Besides, I pray for my parents good beings and longevity and, also for all the people who had helped me before. Unfortunately, I am not good in practicing 7~8 hours sleep per day. I hope I can improve on that. Sometimes, insomnia just take its toll on me.

I am so happy to hear that you do appreciate my sharing on good health, cheongyc(2165). You are a determined, positve thinker, kind and hard working person. Keep your mind clear before bedtime and don't think too much. You will find that when you had done sufficient exercise, you will sleep better. Always remember that you are blessed for all the good thoughts, kind deeds, loving kindness you have for all the animals on earth and being filial your parents. Hope you will have good sleep always. salads - Eat salads and have a balanced diet
If wealth is lost, something is lost, And if wealth is lost everything is lost. So it is very important to have a good health. I am very possesive about my health. Since morning, I started to worked for my health. I have a habit to go for Morning walk for half an hour. Then do some mental and physical exercise for half an hour. After that go for bath and then have a breakfast containing fruits, milk, cornflakes and two bread. Then go for work, At lunch time I prefer to take two rotis, dal and salad with green vegetables. I just used to go for a walk for five minutes after having my lunch. I feel very fresh at that time also. I always used to laugh . At night, I take heavy dinner, then take a long walk for half an hour and do some work of mine and at last go for sleep i.e always a sound sleep.

Thanks for your response, drodofrain (1131). You are right. If health is lost, everything is lost. I am so happy to hear that you do pay special attention to your health. That's good. You can actually sense your state of health as you concentrate mindfully while you are doing your execises. I'm glad you sense the freshness within you. Actually, it is advisable not to eat heavy dinner. Not sure if you are having weight problem but if you do, try not to eat after 6 pm or have very light dinner daily. It is recommended to sleep at least 3 hours after your dinner. Thanks for posting. Have a wonderful weekends.

I have been doing yoga at home for the past month, following a series of routines from a video podcast I download from iTunes. It worked great for me in the long run. It wasn't really easy at first, but yoga doesn't force you to stand on one foot right away. Lately, I added cardio to my exercise efforts. I spend about 12-15 minutes on the elliptical (kinda like a bike machine but more intense) and then I do 7-20 minutes of yoga. I don't necessarily diet though. I can eat anything I want, but I can't just abuse the sugar or have one more serving of rice. I guess my so-called eating habit can be called "moderation" instead of dieting. I took a break from yoga today, though. I felt my body wanting to take it easy, but rest assured, I'll be back on my mat tomorrow!

For good health a healthy and happy mind is very essential. To keep your mind fresh and relaxed you need to be a positive thinker. Have good sleep for 6 to 7 hours but remember 'Early to bed and early to rise makes you healthy and wise'. An early morning walk gives you a lot of fresh air which is necessary for good mind and health and some exercise will add to it. Some deep breathing, meditation will also help a lot. Spending more time outdoors engaging in sports, gardening etc. has been very good for me. About diet avoid junk, fried and packed/tinned foods and rely more on fresh foods and eat lot of green vegetables, fruits etc. Drink lot of water as it is the best medicine for stomach, skin and other parts of our body.
