Traffic Control

As the worlds population grows traffic control becomes quite a task to handle. Traffic on even small town roads is increasing at alarming rates every year. Usually city governments enlarge the roads, which cuts into citizens own personal property. We can't keep widening the roads, and building more. That system doesn't work anymore. We need new ideas. Do you have any thoughts on how we can cut down on traffic that your town might not be currently using?

gunagohan is correct. Every job cannot be done online. There are many jobs that we could make online jobs. Customer service, office, and others, but there are many jobs that just can't be done online. Internet can help though.

This will not work... Earn from home?? Do u fix a pipe in Manhattan when u are in Denver through internet? Wat do u say about the school and college students, they do use travel in the roads.. U could say a better idea.. This internet idea is not a good thing or it will never work i assure..

the thing is, government should impose a limit on cars on the road, every day, about 1000 cars and other vehicles are sold, imagine that in the road everyday. result: your everyday traffic congestion and getting worse. i think there should be a limit to cars being sold.

If there's a limit on cars on the road, then some people don't go to work that day? How do they decide who gets to drive, and who gets to buy a car?

the cars belonging have to be limited. we know that one family usually have two or three cars. If they limited to own only one car, probably that could decrease the traffic.

Its not really possible for most families to have only 1 car though. Now if there was more public transport than yeah they might be able to get away with having one car.

i've been thinking the same thing too.. remember those futuristic documentaries that were shown on tv in the 80s and early 90s? there was one show called 'Beyond 2000'. well, it's beyond the year 2000 already! if those inventors & scientist & other people kept their promises, we'd have flying cars and so many kinds of mass transportation now.. i'm so disappointed and frustrated i think of those documentaries every time i'm stuck in a traffic jam

Hopefully soon. Maybe someone will have the beach balls to stand up to the oil companies and say screw you , we don't need you anymore, and start changing things. We need something better now. Things are only going to get worse if we keep going down this path.

Hey I have this idea, What is need of private vehicles? I think we should encourage public transport.. I know this suggestion is unrealistic

I don't think its unrealistic. The government should provide more public transportation. I know in Newnan, Georgia where my parents live the traffic is back to back 24-7 packed with cars. And the roads have been stretched as wide as they can go. Unless they're going to start building the roads up the only solution is more public transport. You get a bus that can hold what? 30 people? That's about 30 cars off the road. People have been asking for more public transportation for years, but the government local governments keep ignoring it.

the number of men who take cars as their traffic tools is getting larger and larger.so i think there is no need to deal with the policy to limit people transporting without cars, but to do something to make the roads wider ,the cars moving faster.

That's the current way of doing things. It doesn't work. The government can't keep taking people's land. If we just keep widening roads then we'll be covered in roads. Are we going to move all the people underground?

or maybe up in the air? well, that depends on the technology.... obviously people's land was taken by the road widening process, but, perhaps, with our intellect, human can make much more room for ourselves to live in~

I think what would cut down on too much traffic is if more people would use the public transportation.I think also more carpoolers would be of help, then there wouldn't be so many cars on the roads.

More car pool lanes, and more public transportation. Agreed. And the public transportation would help people who don't have vehicles. Now they'll be able to go out, and do things, like work a job.

Yes this is a threat for even the environment, i think some time when there is a load on earth. Earth removes this on its own. And i think these kind of cleaning is called the flood and earthquake etc. Whatever i think now this is the responsibility of humans to ensure a good and natural life to their upcoming generations.

It definitely is. You have pollution, and waste product coming from all those vehicles being produced, and put on the roads. Then when the traffic becomes too much, they build more roads, and cut into wildlife areas. Do you have any ideas on how we can solve this problem?
