I love both football (American) and soccer. However it is the latter which fills my life. I didn't appreciate it when I was younger I always thought that soccer was a game for sissies when compared to American football. How wrong I was. There is much more to the game than meets the eye. For example.....a soccer player has to be a marathon runner, a sprinter, an obstacle runner, and a gymnast, among other things. There are only three substitutions in a regular game (90 mins) and an overtime game (120 mins) so that means at least 8 of the 10 player (not including the goalkeeper) must be running up and down the field without any official timeouts except for injury or discussion by referee. What's not to like about it......it takes a special breed to play soccer....Think about that the next time you watch a soccer game.
