I am currently having problems with falling hair. I see my hair all over my room and my bath room. Not just the normal falling hair, but it is very numerous to count. A friend of mine told me that it is because I have a very thick hair, I mean the strands of my hair are very thick. Could what my friend told me be true? What do you think I should do to keep my hair from falling?

Hi! Why don't you try virgin coconut oil? Have you heard anything about it? Well, for me it's proven and effective. Before I cannot grow my hair really long because when it grows up to 12 inches long, it just starts falling off so I had to cut it short. Until I discovered the health benefits of virgin coconut oil. I just apply it to my hair and scalp, you can do it everyday 30 minutes to one hour before you take a shower. You cannot see the effect in a matter of days though, you have to wait for a month or more, but it's really effective. It's been keeping my hair shiny and healthy because I have been doing that for 5 years already. It's all natural so you dont need to worry about adverse effects.

lol. You sound like a hair product commercial. I have the same problem where my hair will only grow to a certain extent. I think I'll try your coconut oil solution.

i think you must change your shampoo maybe it's not compatible to your scalp, or maybe you are just stressed with problems it can affect you and result hair loss.. how old are you?? Age can also be a cause of hair loss.. try consulting a Doctor they have new procedures in curing hair loss..

I had to change shampoo, but only those that fits my scalp, because I have dandruff if I dont change once in a while. I tried conditioner but it doesn't help, it made it worse. I think because it made my roots softer so it falls off more. Thank you anyway. Happy Mylotting there.

If your regular shampoo and conditioner is making problems worse, try a more organic formula. Some of those big name brands of shampoo have such harsh chemicals in them. Trim the ends of your hair every so often to keep the spits at bay. How often you do this depends on hair length. I don't know how old you are but I read in teens its because of hormones. Stress is another factor. It could be just normal hair fall out and seems like a lot because of the thickness. New hair will come back in its place.

I also had that problem before and I thought that it comes with aging. But a friend told me to cut my hair short (shoulder length), eat lots of protein and calcium, wash hair regularly, and use hair fall control shampoo and conditioner (pantene or sunsilk, they both worked for me), I've did all of them and I have no problems with falling hair anymore. ^_^

You're welcome Kharlav, after reading all the posts here the only reason left that I'm aware of is too much hair treatment like blowdrying, perm, etc. If it's still not the case maybe it's best if you consult a hair professional as early as now.
Have you tried scalp stimulation? Try massaging your scalp lightly I've read that it makes your hair roots more healthy. ^_^

I haven't had my hair treated for a year. I stopped because it just made my hair get drier and drier. Maybe i'll try scalp stimulation, maybe that's another thing I lack because when I take a bath I dont really massage my scalp very well when putting shampoo.

hey hi kharlav. So you are having hairfall problem.Hey listen you don't need to panic as it can be cured.Lately i was also having this hairfall problem but it was minor but still i didn't take it lightly.
First thing don't panic as it will only increase your stress level and will lead to greater hairloss.
You just try massaging your head with a good vegetable oil just 2-3 drops of it.Massage well into scalp so that oil gets deep into the roots.
Take some yogurt everyday it will really help.
Use a anti-hairfall shampoo for at least 3-4 times a week and get rid of your dandruff if you got any

well minoxidil can help you grow your hair back but consult a specialist first because it has some side effects especially dangerous to those with heart problems.

it's normal to have falling hair but when hair is falling excessively theirs a problem, but because you have thick hair strands, i used to experience this my doc. (dermatologist) advise me advise to much stress, have enought sleep but i can't avoid it i don't shower the following morning, cut-down my caffeine intake, try applying vitamin-E softgel capsules in your scalp, and have a regular exercise..

I had this since I was in the Elementary, so it might not be stress. I always have enough sleep, even more than what I need. Maybe I could cut-down my caffeine, I always have been a coffee lover. What's the Vitamin E softgel capsule for? What can it do to my hair?..

hair are like plants. Always water it. Shampoo and conditioner are like fertilizers, they do improve the hair, but too much applications of it would cause dry hair. Try taking a bath once and a while.

i have read that a hundred strands of hairfall a day is actually normal, more than that is not...
neweiz, i expereinced the same thing before back in college... i could see my hair scattered on the floor... it alarmed me so i tried hair fall control shampoo from pantene and i guess it made it worse...
i changed back to my shampoo which is rejoice... and i dont comb specially brush my hair when its wet..
the hair is brittle when wet so avoid combing it... but if you really have to, use big tooth comb...
i have a very long hair now.. and i seldom notice hair fall.. i use big tooth comb and when its dry thats the time i use my regular comb or brush...
and oh, i beleive emu oil would help too.. try it.. :)

I tend to have hair fall out, but it's nothing that ever seems to be in excess. I straighten my hair a lot and I have longer hair for a guy (as you can see in my avatar) and my hair is really thick as well. It's been like this for years ever since I grew my hair longer, but my hair has yet to seem like it's thinning out or anything so I think it's normal depending on your hair type.

Do you have thick hair strand or you just have so many hair that made it thick?.. My hair is not thinning out, is still very thick. I just dont like my hair falling because they are all over the floor, on my bed and in the bathroom, and they are not few, they are so many.
