Do you think some people are so unaware of the world they only think of the now and themselves of that moment?
We are having a mini-heatwave here in the UK at the moment (most of us are in shock) and yesterday in the supermarket there was a woman who was going "oh it would be lovely if it snowed tomorrow!"
Is she really so ignorant of the world around here that she would think that would be a good idea? We would lose a HUGE amount of food if that happened because the cold would kill off seedlings and fruit and we'd have to import everything for at least a year!
I don't think she was aware of what kind of devastation freak weather could do. Obviously she's never grown a crop in her life and thinks food appears by magic on the shelves. What worries me is that she wasn't young, not some dippy teenager who has never seen cows in a field.
Do you think there are more and more people like that around, with no grasp of anything other than themselves - until it all goes wrong?

I feel as if she was just being silly & making a joke.I have said things like that when it has been real hot. Even my son when he was little was wishing for snow because it was soooooo hot.

People now days are so self involved, shallow, idiotic, selfish and vain that they literally can't see beyond their noses. She probably didn't care one iota about the effect snow whould have on anyone but her. And, people get bored and want something excitement and different to happen. Having a true grasp on reality is become more and more rare.

Selfishness is getting to be the norm. Selflessness is getting to be rare.
We've been having those freak weather things here. Last year, corn farmers had to plant corn 3 times. Luckily, it was a long summer, but it was so wet that mostly vine, squash, cucumbers survived. Tomatoes and in the lowlands, potatoes all rotted before they had a chance to mature. This year, we had a freak snow storm and unseasonable heat. Made for bad spring crops like greens. My chives and onions seem to be doining OK, but I don't think my garlic will make it.

Hey hvedra! Sometimes people say stupid stuff without even thinking!
And obviously this person did! I don't think she really would want
it to snow, just maybe wanted the heat to go away! I know when it
starts getting really hot where I live we all start complaining
how we hate the heat too! And in the Winter we are wishing for
the Summer! People are just never satisfied with anything, especially
the weather which of course, they know no one has any control over!
So, just ignore stupid people who say stupid things without really
thinking or meaning it!

Maybe you're just taking it too seriously. I'm sure it's the heat speaking not her. It's because of the heat that's why she said that. Don't let it get into you next time someone says something off. It'll just affect you and your lovely day. :)

What you call a 'heat-wave' in the UK, I call it very pleasant weather. What is the highest temperature in UK in a year - probably never more than 25 degree celcius. That is very pleasant for me as I am right now suffering a 46-47 degree celcius heat. whenever my father-in-law tells me that it is very hot in England, I just laugh at him.
