Hiding behind your avatar, why ?

For one I haven't, why should my family be the only ones who have to suffer staring at my ugly mush!!

Now your talking. My agent threatened to sue me if i dare show my face on the internet. This was the best i could come up with. TATA.

I really don't know why they do hide behind their avatars. For sure because this is a virtual world and we have a freedom to do everything we want. Just respect them of doing that. Me i don't have problems with sharing my real face. Some members of this site do not care what you look like that is why when a certain member is hiding by their avatar, I don't bother to ask more. I don't care much.

Actually I know a bunch of us here decided a while back to create new avatars out of pears because we were running into issues in certain discussions being posted here that became a racial thing. We decided in order to prevent the discrimination we'd all be pears that way no one could judge anyone. That had to be over a year ago and since then a lot of us still have yet to post pics as our avatars. Yet I still put new pics of myself on my profile all the time, just not as my profile picture anymore. I guess it just became a habit and I have since found so many funny avatars I liked. My original pear with dreadlocks was great too but I don't know where it is anymore. Now I just surf the net for funny avatars. (Like the smiley face in the microwave, yeah love that one!)

Being online can be fun, but it can also be a bit dangerous as some of us may already know, and even though it would be cool for people to see the real me I feel much safer using an avatar instead of my real pic, though there are a few carefully selected sites that I have chosen to upload my real pic on. But I dont use my real pics on every site mainly for safty reasons nothing else besides a little mystery can be fun sometimes.

because i go to the same modelling agency that you do too and our contracts are almost the same. i can't just strut my buff body all around myLot now..

Love their own name but too maybe cant thinnk of and avatar they like!

Because I'm ugly Besides, I think the current one shows off my personality much better. Anyone who is really interested can see an actual picture in my profile. I like using random bits I find on free avatar sites. Maybe it's the artistic freedom I like practicing.

this may sound as utter nonsense to you but believe it or not, every time I used my own photo online be it on my lot or somewhere else I always ended up with more 'fights' than 'cheers' LOL so I tried putting up something else and voilla ! the reversed happens LOL what the he ll is going on, I don't know I have no problem standing up for myself but I can't do it 24/7 it's depleting my energy and wasting time that I need to work and pay bills but you know what, it isn't safe anyway to post everything online I learned that the hard way, posting photos and e-mail address with my real name since that day my name has been used to send spams so these people make money using my name and I didn't get a dime of it LOL

one specific sentence from mylot guidelines reads: DO NOT Post anything that discloses your personal information or others' personal information. We do not disclose it to anyone for good reason. http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx ------------ so, your modeling agency, and all such stuff are ok! i would ASK for your photo through mail, If I were so indulged with you.. and so very eager to see what you are made like? .. but, I am more comfortable with the GLASSES and the eyes which shine behind them, and the funny PLEASANT smile, that your pic-avatar presents. ----------could this be a reason?

I don´t hide, friend. I had an avatar with my picture for about a year. I put that because it was a picture taken aboard a sailboat in the vacations at the Caribbean. Mylot helped me go there as I count only on my online earnings to travel. This year I went to the south of Chile, my country. There are hot spring there and I needed that as I underwent a shoulder surgery. I found that the best picture that gave my last vacations feelings was a picture of our national flower. It grows under giant trees in the cold native forests in the south. Take care!

Oh so you are a model! Nice to know that there is a model in here. I wonder if there are actors or actresses here also... I doubt they are too busy, their schedules are too hectic, they would rather sleep than do the mylotting... Well i am using myself on my avatar though its a shot from behind hahahah...

I am all visible on MyLot and everyone can see me. As you said ask no questions so am not asking :)

Hi Haddowz. I had had avatar pics of myself and of my family up before now bur everyone just loved the shimering moon one that I have stuck with that, it is the one most people recognise me by. Think I have plenty of pics of me in my profile though so not in hiding lol. Huggles Ellie :D

haddoz wow a model but of what? he he buck teeth.he he. I don't use my picture because i do not have a recent one and Ihave no cameras ,as am on a very limited budget and modern cameras are not cheap; the ones worth having that is. anyway why do we have to bare our very souls here. discretion is always wise on the net as who wants to be stalked by an unsavory character. why don't you use your picture now we are asking questions?

maybe some gets more motivation on putting a different avatar and not their own photo. well to each is own. since i started mylot i always put my sons picture as my avatar. and it is also fun for almost all my closest friend here witness the growth and the development of my son. if they have good and valid reasons like you have then its okay. i am not bothered or what on avatars that are not photo of themselves, we all have our own styles on how to do it. yours is cool it brightens up my son's day. he loves it. he is smiling back at your avatar.

I think that there are some people who just aren't really keen on the idea of putting their photo on the internet. Or maybe they simply just don't feel like uploading one? I'm not sure. My avatar is a photo of myself so I'm not really in the boat to give solid answers on why people don't. Just merely speculating based on various trends I've seen around the internet.
