is anyone here a bat warden?

I just received my training pack to train to be a bat warden, so I've spent the evening filling in forms, and next week I'll be getting my rabies vaccinnationsn started and sending off all my forms, then hopefully getting in touch with the local trainers to start shadowing them. so I was just wondering if anyone here is a bat warden, and how they found training, and the job itself.

well i am not a bat warden but this sounds really interesting. what exactly do bat wardens do?

mostly roost visits, from what I can gather, so checking sites, working out what sort of bat, and how large the colony is, and if there's any current threat to them, and advising owners of the roost site in how not to disturb the colony.

i thought it would involve conducting bat tours or something in the evening. i know the rangers do those here and that sounds fairly dull. however what you are doing/going to do sounds interesting and worthwhile. let us know how it goes.

I think some bat wardens probably do the tours. I know that there are sometimes walks in the local area, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's who is doing it. I think some wardens do talks in schools and so on too.
