hi I havent done anyh cooking for a year and a half but I did not use that solid shortening I used soy or canola oil instead, something in those solid shortenings is not good for us but right now with a senior moment I cannot remember why. I would try veggie oils instead and find recipes that use them in b aking,. I am going to use our search bar for solid shortening and find out why I changed.

found it hydrogenated did you know you are cooking with hydrogenated shortening and its not good for our hearts thats why I went to the oils as they are only partly hydrogentated. check on them for yourself you will see I am right its not healthy at all runs up ones cholesterol count and courts stroke and heart trouble.

Yes 3Snuggle there something that can take the place of veggie shorting or oil. It is apple sauce. Applesauce reduces the calories and keeps the baked goods fresh longer. And the health benefits include protection against colon cancer, reduced cardiovascular risk, anti-cancer and antioxidant properties, and reduced effects of bad cholesterol. You can find cake and cookie recipes on the net for baking with applesauce instead of shorting or oils.
