I was not really aware that face book was already banned in other countries. I just read a responder from Pakistan saying that their country already banned face book. Another my lotter posted that China also banned face book. I'm not sure if it this applies to all areas in China. What do you think about this issue?

I heard about this news and I was really thinking that it's just a rumor. But now I'm assuming that it's true. Well, these past few months I've heard some bad news pertaining to facebook. Like someone has been killed because her contact number and address from her facebook info was used to trace her, someone was not granted his insurance because of some photos uploaded in facebook and so on. However, I believe that the main issue is the privacy and I think Facebook is working on it. But the users should do their share as well to avoid problems by setting their own standard on the information and personal details posted in their facebook profile.

Yeah. I've seen a video posted in Youtube about a Spanish girl who was killed because the abductor went directly to her place and he got all the information from Facebook. It was actually a long story but in the end she was killed brutally. I don't know if it's true but it was really scary.

Some people are concerned about the security of facebook. I am very careful who I allow on my facebook. I have gone in and changed my profile settings. Some countries ban because it is a way for people to talk about the politics of the country. I'm not sure why Pakistan and China have banned.

I became more conscious about my face book profile only about a month ago. According to one discussion, it is really not safe to post birth date, phone numbers and even addresses. I actually see to it that I know that person, before accepting their friend request. Facebook was banned in Pakistan due to religion issues, I'm not sure with China.

My facebook account is not for commercial or networking. It is for friends, family, church and a RVing group I belong to. No one else gets my info. I had already realized the insecurity of the internet and do not put address or phone number. I did have my birth year, however have removed that.

I am not surprised that Pakistan have banned Face Book. A drawing of a religious figure shouldn't be allowed. It caused Pakistan some offense I think. It is a shame China has also banned Face Book. I am careful about privacy on Face Book. I don't display my birth day. I don't give my address, phone number or email address. I just say my name and female. I only accept friend requests from people that I know.

chiwasaki, At this time of your discussion, besides China other countries are appearing in the lists of those that ban Facebook and the latest official country is Bangladesh, above Pakistan, Syria, Vietnam, and Iran. The ban is country wide and I just have to say that the reasons are multifaceted and various, where every country will have their own bylaws. Failing to comply will only render establishments getting banned.

hi. i heard this news last week. yes, it is true that even facebook is being banned in Pakistan. in china it was banned too. and up to now, supporters of facebook and youtube cannot enjoy this hobby. from what i got, youtube is banned in Pakistan because the Pakistanis were offended by this video post about their prophet Mohammad. there seemed to be an art contest on Draw-a-Mohammad contest. and the winner's work was not really appreciated. Pakistanis were offended with the end result. so that quite led youtube to be banned in this area. am just not sure why these sites are banned in china. i hope it was done with justice

I actually read a similar discussion about that draw a mohammad contest or something. Muslim and other Christian responders got offended as well. I'm busy working these past weekdays and got shocked that face book was really banned in other countries aside from they are having security issues. Now even you tube is also banned. I think other countries will ban face book as well especially those who got offended with that issue.

Iran and Syria banned facebook also. I'm not really sure about the religion conflicts, but if that's true, other countries will also ban facebook. I know someone from Pakistan and enjoys facebook a lot. I don't know how they will deal with it. I'll ask him and give you updates as well.

How does it work? Will they charge an offense to those people who uses face book in their country or will they simply cut any connection of face book? I'm not really sure how can they stop or ban it.
