Where are some of the best places to visit in Japan?

Hello all. I always wanted to visit Japan. It just always seemed like a cool place to visit. I have enough money to go there but before i go, I waant to plan out where I should visit. I already know one place im going to visit for sure and that is tokyo but that is not the only place I want to visit. So anyway, if anybody has any suggestions on some cool places to visit in japan i would be happy to hear them. bye, and I hope I get lots of cool suggestions.

hey cash..actually i'm so excited upon answering this..because your discussion bring back the memories i had with my 'okasan' with is foster mum and her family during my homstay in 2008..okay,i recommend that you go to sendai..it take 4 hours drive from tokyo but no worries.from the airport you can simply take a bus to teh nearest train station and...before that,you really need to bring an electronic dictionary or at least master few stuff like 'ohayo gozaimas'-good morning, 'chotto matte kudasai'-wait for a sec..and some others..you can ask me if you want to..the best thing about sendai is from beginning..you go there by bullet train!!
how awesome is that..the 4 hours drive will be shorten to 1 and half hour by that..sendai is known as the city of light because during winter,,people there will wrap the tiny light around each bald trees and when it reached 6pm,all of it will light on at the same time.it was wonderful and spectacular
..you must go there during winter because i went there during that time..if you are a sushi lover,it is just a perfect place to dine it..my 'okasan' bring me to a shop and evrything we ordered was straight from a lorry we passed by upon entering the shop.it was purely fresh!!there was also a musuem and a castle spot because the was no more castle but i think there is only remains of it...of course you can just linger around tokyo itself but there's nothing to see..but you must go to the manga museum, akihabara, and tokyo disneyland!!you can simply ask me if you are interested more...

If you want to see the real Japan I would suggest a place like Kyoto in Honshu, Japan. You could see many beautiful sites like ancient building listed which are part of the UNESCO world heritage site. Buildings like Kamomioya Shrine or the Rinzai Zen Buddhist temple. They are all very lovely places to see. But Kyoto is also the center of the Japanese tv and film industry. Kyoto is also connected to other major cities that are great to see like Tokyo and Hiroshima by the high speed rail.
