A psychiatric patient was due for discharge. Prior to his dismissal, he will be interviewed by the psychiatrist to confirm if he was fit to be discharged. The psychiatrist took a piece of blank paper and drew a horizontal line. He showed it to him and asked him what it was. He took the paper and studied it for a while. Then he boldly told the psychiatrist that he was sure it was a naked lady lying down. After that the psychiatrist drew a vertical line and asked him what it was this time. He laughed and replied that it was another nude lady standing up. So the pychiatrist made his conclusion. He was told that he was not due for discharge as he still needed treatment. He was so disappointed that he caught hold of the psychatrist's right arm and shouted at the psychiatrist, " Why can't I be discharged ? You were the one drawing those dirty pictures!". He does has his point, don't you think so?

This is a good joke. I can't help laughing after reading it. The poor patient really got his point, although it's not so true in normal people's eyes. But his courage to make his protest is showing that he is still having some logical sense. His only problem is distorting things drawn on the paper.

Thank so much. cheongyc. I am so glad you like it. Psychiatrics patients tend to hallucinate and fantasize. I had a memorable time with them during my psychiatric posting and I really found them very pitiful. They could hardly be discharged from the psychiatric centre most of the time. Have a nice day!!

I thought this kind of serious hallucination only exist in joke. I could hardly imagine how the psychiatric patients could interpret some image as something totally irrelevant. It's a pity that they couldn't be discharged, although it's for the good for both parties. You are most welcome and have nice day too!

It is not only a joke but true when psychiatric patients are concerned. This also explain why people with psychiatric problems tend to talk to themselves or to nobody and can't stop talking either. They can get very violent suddenly as they are unstable. Hence, they are deemed unsafe to be discharged into the society. Thanks for your interest in psychiatric patients. Have a wonderful day!!!
