The strawberries in the attatched photo were freshly picked Friday June 4th from my garden here in Minnesota. I have cleaned them and destemmed them in preparations for my wife to make Strawberry Jam Saturday. Shiould be enough here for a couple jars at least I feel. Have you ever made your won jaM/jelly? Oh my Bob. Have you ever tried the rhubarb jam. It tastes just like strawberry, easy to make, then you can eat the strawberries with sugar instead. They taste better that way.

My jam recipe takes 3 cups rhubarb (cut thin), 2 cups sugar, let set several hours or overnight, cook till tender and cool a little, add one small box of jello. You would never know the difference form real strawberry jam.

I used to do it quite a lot, and I have stashed some cherries in the freezer so that when I am done with this traveling job I can make some cherry jam. I also may make juice, if we do not eat them all first.

My strawberries aren't doing so well this year. And then, when I was doing some gardening today, I saw my darling little Harmony had planted herself right in the middle of them! Laid right down on a couple of the plants. I was not amused.

Bummer. I tend to trample a few plants as these aren't in rows. We just plant them and we weed the area once a year is about it. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

hi Grandpa Bob oh y es I used to make the best strawberry jelly and jam and took prizes at the county fair too much to the chagrin of the older ladies there. and I kept doing until I was 18 and moved out to work and be on my own. I loved doing it too as it was both creative and also so good to eat on good homemade bread. y ummy.
