Sitting in an airport waiting for a flight

I was sitting waiting for a flight in Minneapolis. There was a guy on a cell phone arguing with his girlfriend. All of a sudden the cussing and swearing started. I swear people don't have any courage for what is right at all. They all sat there and let him carry on. I could only take so much. All of a sudden, I thought, this has got to come to an end. I turned around and let him have it. "Why you find that you must talk like that in a large group of people? You are nasty and making an uncomfortable annoying situation worse". You know what he did? He flipped me the bird. I couldn't believe it. What an insensitive pig!!!

You did the right thing. I watch a show each week on 'what would you do'. It is part of a 20/20 show that airs. He was very insensitive and he mostly did that to attract attention and annoy others in the group. I am sure the people sitting around that were applauding you silently. I know I would of been one of those. But I hate to say this, but I would of been one of those ones who would not have said anything and would of just walked away.

I am glad you agree. My conscience tells me that if you sit there and do nothing that is as much as saying, I allow it and it is OK with me. That kind of cursing and carrying on is absolutely unacceptable. I can understand when a word or 2 slips but this guy thought he was entitled and he was not. Besides in the effort of being positive I hope that other people stand up for what they believe is right. Our world would be a whole lot different.

Your thinking and attitude are great and an encouragement for me to start standing up also. I hope you don't have to go through that experience again, especially at the airport waiting for a flight. The flight itself is long and stressful that you don't need a jerk acting out like that.

I don't blame you for being annoyed. I would have been, too. I can't stand cussing and I won't let anybody talk that way in front of me. It's because I'm a christian and when people start talking like that in front of me, I tell them right away that I won't put up with that kind of language. It must have gotten really bad from the way you are talking. I'm aware that you were waiting on your plane and you had to be right at the gait. However, I think it would have been better just to get up and walk away in this case. If you say anything, you'll just make them madder.

I've never had anybody to flip the bird at me when I tell them not to cuss in front of me. They will usually apologize and not do it any more.

arabgirl28, What was the argument about? I hope is something to do with his girlfriend leaving him for he sure deserves it. Some people are just basically obnoxious to the core that they are oblivious of how rejected they really are. Anyway, I just can't stand such people and especially when you are in an enclosed area like the waiting lounge at the boarding gate. You've done the right thing here. Kudos!

good for you! i secretly cringe when people in public places talk on their cellphones as if they were in the privacy of their homes. but i would not have had the courage to stop him. i would most likely just move away.

I know I try to bring some music to listen to while I wait or here in the US we have a lot of fast food or dining places so I will sit there and read a book to seclude myself....I know it is so hard though.

the pig flipped you the bird.. idiot pig. hope karma gets around to him soon.. shouldn't let people let that get to you. it's obvious he's immature and hasn't grown up yet. most probably he even still complains to his mummy when he has a booboo.. haha...like the little insensitive pig he is...
