Hi all readers,Ghaza people are badly suffering from shortage of food, medicines and drinking water in the worst blockade imposed by Israel.Thousands of innocent people, patients, children are dying and Israeli forces are also attacking/killing those people who want to help them.Israel has not paid any heed to the recent request by the UN Secretary General to finish this blockade. Is'nt it a clear violation of International Law/Human Rights and what should the whole world do ??

Hi awapak, What is really needed here is a change of attitude on both sides. They must somehow learn to live together in peace. As long as either side believes that killing is the answer there cannot be peace. I think that the blockade is wrong but I'm sure that there are other countries that would do the same in similar circumstances. We are all human beings, no matter where we live or what our culture or religion. Someday the two sides will live together in peace and what's happening today only delays the inevitable. Let there be movement on both sides and let peace talks begin. Blessings.

Thanks for responding and sharing your nice views. These Palestinians are the real natives of these lands and peace can come if they are also given independence.Their sufferings are not being given in the world media. Then the western countries are only supporting Israel which is not correct.

Support the Israel blockade. If the world has any integrity at all, it should support this action. If a group of scummy terrorists, were shooting rockets into Florida from the keys, and they were smuggling weapons in by boat, we'd blockade them too. Heck, if Cuba was firing rockets into the US, we'd blockade Cuba. So you have a population of Arabs in Ghaza, who supported Hamas, a terrorist organization, who have been shooting rockets into Israel, and Israel is blockading the ships which are smuggling in weapons to these scummy terrorists. That is good, right, and proper. It should be done, and I support it. Those thousands of people are not innocent if they support terrorist actions against Israel. They are accomplices. Further, Israel has already setup alternative ways to give aid to Ghaza. They can either send it to UN charities, which deliver the goods to Ghaza, or they can give it to Egypt which will give it to Ghaza. In either case, food, medicine, and water, can, and does reach Arabs in Ghaza. Or here's a thought... STOP SHOOTING ROCKETS INTO ISRAEL!!! Shocking idea...

You are the brave ones. There are no rockets falling in the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio. I look forward to the Unification of Jerusalem, the real capital of Israel. I hope that day comes soon. Shalom aleichem.

I think its pretty obvious why Israel would need a blockade. With the struggles in security they face, regardless of who is in the fault in the whole thing, it is a clear decision to need to protect their shores and what is coming into their shores.

Awapak, we may not like the conditions under which those people in Gazza live, but honestly what can Israel do, any country, yours included would take action to defend its citizens, given the same situation. all the best urban

The blockade is legal. They have to do it. To keep weapons from getting into Gaza. From what I hear ships are suppost to be searched to make sure they only have aid materials on board...if they do then they are allowed to go into Gaza...but if they have weapons they stop them from getting into Gaza. Ships that try to go through the blockade WITHOUT being searched are the ones that are being forcefully stopped. I mean come on..if they are only carrying aid to Gaza...why would they object to being search? Why would they try to break the blockade if they have nothing to hide? Either they are hiding weapons or trying to cause trouble.

Hi awapak, Middle East is almost the worst region in the whole world full of conflicts which has a past of thousands of years. In Middle East, Israel's situation is different. After or during World War II, hundreds of thousands of Jewish people were sent to Middle East from Western/Eastern Europe in order to be rescued from ongoing massacre. And with the help of the western world a new country was born under the name of Israel. But the conflict was not solved. Ownership of holly lands where 3 religions have emerged couldn't be shared among habitants from different religions, namely arabs and jews. Palestinians (they are arabs too) and Jewish people were left to share the same lands but Western world give secret keys of weapons to Jewish people to protect themselves against any future assaults. No one wants to live the incidents occurred during World War II again. Israel used this power to back off or capture Palestinian lands in order to take whole control of the region. Because there were several assaults coming through them in order to push Israel out of holly lands. Muslim world does not like Israel only for this reason. Iran for instance. They are not arabs and have no dna ties with Palestinians but they always back Palestinians whenever a dispute occurs though they had many wars with arabs in the past. There's one and only clear ally of Israel in Muslim world: Turkey. Though Turkey and Israel are allies, Turkey is the only country who can have the power to pass a message full of condemn from UN against Israel. Turkey also backs Palestinians but this is only for they are suffering in the region. Turkey plays the leading role to open blockade in Ghaza and make action (as it is seen last week). But Turkey also sees the cards of Israel behind the blockade. If that region is open for transport, Palestinian's military wings may slip to that region in the dark and may throw missiles. Israel canceled blockade in Ghaza but when that Iran made missiles were thrown in 2007 to Israel from Ghaza, Israel again blocked the region. What is happening today? 3 years have been passed after re-blockage. Turkey says, loosen up the chains and let humanitarian aid inside. Let re-construction of wrecked Ghaza. But Israel says, I dont want Ghaza to be reconstructed nor people in it have a better life than 3 years ago. Because if I open the doors, how can I be sure no Hamas or what so ever units will have access to that region? This dispute will never stop at least for the next 20 years. No country in Middle East can confront Israel since Israel has nuclear military power (gift of western world) to make sure they will never be kicked out from their home. Now let me conclude my looong post. Ghaza blockade is a human rights violation but it is also a self defence, though Israel plays it to the full extent. Even today's Israel is also thinking of lessening the blockade but this will take time. Meanwhile, thanks to Turkish privately owned Mavi Marmara's efforts to let the world turn their eyes into the region to judge what is happening over there. It costed 9 lives but thought us lots of other things also.

Nice way to sum it up, but the nuclear was not a gift from the Western world and according to the Palestinians themselves, there is no shortage of anything; Einstein being a Jew that supported Israel, donated his knowledge to the Israeli Universities, and apparently there is a new Olimpic pool in Gaza!

Any misery and human suffering in Gaza is the direct fault of Hammas. Hammas wants nothing short of the whole pie and the elimination of Israel. There is no compromise for them and they will settle for nothing less. As long as Hammas continues to keep gaza living in a state of war by continually raining rockets on Israel, Israel will have to continue to defend itself, even to the point of a blockade, which IS legal under international law, look it up.
