Do you research and review web sites before you join?

I was recently researching a new web site to join to make money writing articles. I had been struggling with the new structure of eHow since they changed their approval process and have been going through Demand Studios (another branch of Demand Media which also owns eHow), so decided to find out what else was out there. I probably read at least 3 or 4 reviews and scanned the site quite well before deciding to join. In addition, I also read through the terms and conditions. But I am now glad to say I am a member of the new site. What about you? Do you read others' reviews of sites before deciding to join? or do you just go by the information on the site? Has anyone else been struggling with the new process of eHow and Demand Studios? Or is it just me? 8)

I think that it is great that you have made so many friends here on mylot. I haven't counted them recently, but that is about the same as me. However, I have been here for 3 or 4 years. I talk to some people on here, more than I talk to my face to face and phone friends. It's a great place to be. Thanks again and have a beautiful day!

Yes, I do research and review sites before I join. It is very important that we review and do some research about a particular site. We might find something that is not that good.

I remember about 10 or so years ago, when I would join just about any site to try to make money on the internet. I guess I was money hungry, plus I was desperate. I still want to make as much money as possible, but with all of the scams that I have found through the years, I have become a bit more cautious.

I used to just join and see how things went. Now I try to find out other people's experiences before hand. And yes, I struggle with the setup of a lot of these websites.

I wished I still had this web site marked which was much like a forum. You had to join to read it and remark, but they didn't send you any junk mail or spam mail. But, it was really handy because people could go on there and rate different sites, plus they would tell you if they had been paid or not. I think I will try to find that site again and bookmark it on this computer. Thank you for responding in this discussion cutepenguin, and have a great day here on myLot!

It is important to do your research first before you join and submit articles. It will save you your precious time and efforts, you will not waste time with "not so good websites". But you can always pull out early if you accidentally join one "not so good" site.

I wished I could just put the articles on my blog or web site and get the hits that I get from other web sites. However, in 3 years of having my own web site and I'm not sure how long I have had my blogs, but all of the earnings combined do not add up to half as much as I make in one month by putting the articles on other sites. So, I guess I will continue to do the research and put my work in other people's hands. However, I will keep trying to build my own space. Thank you for responding in this discussion, and have a great day!

Yes, ofcourse i try to get as much information as possible about any new site i am planning to join as there are so many scams and frauds out there. We have to filter them out as much as possible, right? Sometimes it so happens that the review of the site would be good and we do join, but later we find that the site doesn't suit our style. This has happened to me on numerous occasions.

I also reseach the site as much as possible before joining. I also like to talk with someone that is a current member to get the facts first hand. I never did a lot at ehow. I had problems with being locked out and always having to talk to management to get cleared to get back in. It was a glitch in the system that took forever to clear out. I just lost interest. What is the new site you are considering joining? I've had good luck at associated content. It's my favorite writing site right now. Yahoo just bought them out though so there may be changes to come. We will see!

I ended up joining Bukisa. It seems very easy to move around in their site. Plus, they don't have a lot of requirements. They just asked that your articles are a minimum of 250 words in total. I hope that my articles are successful there. eHow has had a lot of glitches in their system over the past year. I don't think their new requirements of everyone going through the rigamarore at Demand Studios is going to help them. I wasn't aware that Yahoo bought Associated Content. I have written for them in the past, but I don't think that I ever had any income. Thank you for sharing this information here in this discussion, and have a great day on myLot!

That is actually the right thing to do in finding another website to join. I do review the site. I type the name of the site on the net and if there is a statement like they have never been paid then I just naturally believe that the site is a scam site. I do read the frequently asked question but actually you will find nothing on that area. It is good if you will find reviews on this site. I f the review is all negative, then it is the time to believe that site can be a scam.

It all depends on the sites. If is strictly for informational only, I may register without researching the site. If it involves money, for sure I would do research and seek second opinion before joining.

I usually research a new site before I join. If I can I run it through a mylot discussion as that usually gives me a well-rounded veiw of the site and its operations. However, I was on eHow because someone suggested it. When they made the big switch I had only published like 3-4 articles and had to have five to get to go with the upgrade.. sounds like I didn't miss much! I guess they just ate the money I had in there! (some call that stealing!)

I still get paid from eHow and earn residuals, even though I haven't been able to get my bio approved through the Demand Studios. I think that if you don't reach payout every month, then you will receive your payment once your articles earn enough for payout or at the end of the year. Thank you for your response in this discussion, and good luck to you!

Before entering to a site, it is necessary to investigate and try to obtain testimonies of people who already has taken part, not to lose the time and to be defrauded, but not always it is possible to manage obtain this, so I propose that between all of us we should do a list with 10 better sites where it could gain good money, expire in the payments and allow us our financial freedom.
6 Jun 10
I tend to jump straight in there. I only join survey sites and opinion sites if they are free to join. There is no way that i would join a site if it cost me money. So far all the survey sites that i have joined have been good and i have received payments off all of them.

It sounds like you have been very fortunate Glenn. I only join the sites that are free to join myself. It really amazes me how many there are out there. I know a lot of people who say they can't make any money at all. I guess they just aren't looking in the right places. Thank you for your response in this discussion and have a great day!

Hello! I always look after paying websites I want to join to if they are legit and paying! That takes not much time but your decision could be much more easier if it worth join or not! The best way to know a website is to read opinions from other members. They are like you, they want to make money like you! And if they don't get their money, they want to inform everybody not to join to a site! Cuz they know, what is wasting time on a site that is not paying! Have a nice day!

I research as much as I can before I join a site. Some of the sites I recently joined are new so I just have to see how they go. However they are free. I have not used eHow or Demand Studios but have heard of them. I ask questions on some of my favorite work at home forums and the senior members there really help out. They have been online quite a while and can spot a scam pretty quick.

Earning online world scam is site is easy to get but legit site is hard to get. So i research and review websites before join any site. As i don't want to waste my time and time is very important for our life.

I work on network securities and to be honest I saw so many ways to scam people that i become really reserved. In fact I make a review of at least 5 pages before doing some kind ofmovement like you. even if at the beginning is free i take my time to research because is true that we dont spend money on them but time is also something that we should value.

I always research the web sites before I join after all there is no point in joining if your are looking for ways to make money and spend a lot of time on earning nothing. I haven't heard of eHow or demand Studio's so i can't comment but will have a browse at reviews to see what it is all about.
