Binay: I did not lie; I just kept it a secret---

The Philippines' soon-to-be vice president was recently interviewed by Karen Davila who asked him a question like this: If you had lied to your family once, you could also lie to the people. And you know what his response to this was? It was something like, "I did not lie to my family; I just kept the affair a secret." Huh? This made my head turn. Lying and keeping a secret. What's the difference? When you keep an affair a secret for a long time, isn't that tantamount to lying? Aren't "lying" and "keeping a secret" one and the same? Is he kidding us? What's your take on this? Do you believe this guy?

Technically and linguistically, he was correct. He did not lie because he was never asked. He was never asked because the family did not know. It was a secret! But you are correct. Who are we fooling?

And what was Karen Davila's answer to that? I agree with you, if he can lie to his family about something as important as that, then what will stop him to lie to Filipino people? What a lame answer? I think he is not a person to be trusted.

well...am not sure really. i mean he is a liar but i don't think money and power last long when it comes to lasting commitments. maybe it is kind of attractive to some women but i just gather they are only attractive right from the start. only from the start. i mean would you or do you even find binay attractive? ergo, the woman who had an affair with him is or all of these: a. a loser. she cannot find her own man. b. a loser. she needs power or mere affiliation to it. c. a loser. has a taste for bad looking liars. ergo, the fact that this kind of man still won may mean his track record of public service far outweighs his affiliation with that loser of a mistress.

First off, I would not want this man as my president. Second, he is kind of telling the truth. If his wife didn't ask and he didn't volunteer he didn't lie to her. But he did keep a secret. Which as you said, in some instances is lying in itself. I do understand what he was saying, but it was wrong, and I do believe that he would keep secrets and lie to his followers. t

Absolutely. He's sly and scheming if he was able to keep something like that "secret" for quite a time. God forbid, what other lies/secrets he will keep in the future.

He said that?! Jeezz.. I really never liked the guy, there's just something in him that I don't trust.. I just think that he has something up his sleeve. tsk.tsk.tsk. I do hope and I really pray that I am wrong. I guess there's really nothing more to do but to wait and see, and we just need to be more vigilant not only with Binay but with the whole government.

he kept it a secret to save his as_s off. "kapatid ng magnanakaw ang sinungaling" i don't know why he is winning, what criteria does our kababayans look into when it comes to a public servant? i think one of the criteria is to be of "good moral conduct".

Yes, this also surprised me a lot, although he's a poor loser in our province. I don't know what happened with the votes in Luzon and other parts of the country.
