http://apnews.myway.com//article/20100607/D9G6KHRO3.html She's been around long enough to know that in this country, you can't accuse Africans or Israelis of any wrongdoing. She got what she deserved. Well, there are people such as Sephardic Jews who have lived in the Middle East since time immemorial. Under Muslim discrimination and violence, they had been forced to flee their native Muslim countries (such as Iran, Iraq, Morrocco, etc) to Israel. Her statement is Arab propaganda and made it sound like all the Israeli Jews were Askenazim invaders from Europe when in reality, many of them were Jews driven away from their native Muslim countries. The world allegedly wring its hands over the Palestine Arabs but is completely silent on the Sephardic Jews.

My theory on this is that most people simply hate. They hate like they love. It's part of their lives just as much as anything else. Now it boils down to what it's "okay" to hate. After all, you wouldn't want to be hated for hating. You would much rather hate what is popular to hate, so no one hates you. White Christians and Jews are "okay" to hate in this day and age. Nearly any and everything else gets the no-no finger waved. That's all I have to add to this. Well, besides the fact that I can't believe Helen Thomas is still alive!

So you say White Christians have joined the list. Because Blacks and Jews have always occupited the top of the hate list.

It hasn't been "okay" to hate blacks for decades, though. Sure, they're still hated by some. Everybody's hated - depending on where you're at in the world, "minorities" may be hated more. But it's certainly not PC. You're hated for hating blacks by the mainstream, whereas if you hate the Christians (white only, though) and Jews, you'll catch no grief. It's acceptable hate compared to just hate.

You are right there. It seems that the Jews can do no right and everything they do to protect themselves, usually in self defense is condemned by the world. The Jews are a wonderfully resilient people and stupid comments by an aging reporter who is obviously well past it will not deter them from their fierce desire to protect their little piece of the world. It is time that the world wakes up to the true cause of unrest in the area and that is not the Jews but the hate campaign taught by many surrounding countries.

It's about time that old witch ended her career of hate. She was always piping up with snide comments about Isreal at every opportunity. I would never deny her the right to have her opinion and to express it but when you are that blinded with hate, you should know when to keep your mouth shut. I think that she deliberately made those comments because she knew her fame would send them around the world and encourage the haters of Isreal. She knew it would end her career but saw a chance to create mayhem and misery for the people she hates. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

This isn't the first offensive comment she's made in my mind. She should have been gone "ages" ago. I could never understand how she maintained a "front row" seat. Personally, I'm glad she's gone. May be now there will be someone in her place that asks real/meaningful questions of this White House.

Great article and agree 100% with you. Sefardic Jews have no real voice and will never see what they left behind in Algeria, Yemen,Iraq etc. Iraq I heard is trying to destroy evidence the Jews ever lived there, one of the oldest Jewish communities in the world! I know of an organization trying to get retribution for losses by the Jewish communities. Helen seems to want to join on the bandwagon and bash Israel with every other loving liberal and make a name for herself before she passes on. She is now famous in the left as she was forced out by the "Zionist regime" etc. I hope the replacement will be better and an upgraded model for the sake of truth and my own sanity.

Maybe you were exaggerating when you said in this country "you can't accuse Africans or Israelis of any wrongdoing". Uh, I think those pirates hijacking those ships are from an African nation and they "are" accused of doing things. And saying that Jews should leave Palestine and go to Germany or someplace is not "criticism."

I went back and read you post again. Yet, I'm surprised she was let go. I guess I reacted so strongly because I see a lot of accusations aimed at Jews, Africans, and African Americans, although sometimes the press might be too tame. Yet, I've seen things happen at the amusement park where I worked which one day might make Sixty Minutes. That "good ol boy" company receives "no" public accusations whatsover in spite of the bad things it has done to its employees. And it is so busy keeping its image clean that I have no doubt they might be reading this right now.
