What makes you study as a student?

June 9, 2010 11:25am CST
What makes you a hard-working student? is it your family? or for your own good? As I study everyday as a student I recently think what makes me study is for my own good that can make me a bright future. When I think of it I know it's not just for my own good but for my parents and family too because what I earn after studying is knowledge that can make job and that job can make me money and help my family.

I don't really like to study. I only study when I'm really interested in a subject or there's an exam the following day. That's why I try to listen very carefully during the discussion so I won't have to study that much. I try to think of my family when I need to study but honestly sometimes I'm to lazy to study. I find ways to make study more exciting like group study. I love studying in a group because I get to learn a lot from them and I also have fun talking and bonding with them.

I'm related of your response. The more interesting topics makes me listen. I honestly listen to the school but not reading sometimes my notes. But for this year I will do my best to listen to the teachers and self-study at home.

Simply put: the love of learning! I just love to learn about new and interesting things. I was not a good student when I was younger, but in my adult years I have changed. I have also become a teacher so sometimes I just need to learn so that I can give the information to others to enhance their own learning.

You said it all. Loving learning means priceless because as long as you love it you learn more.

It has been many, many years since I've been a student, but that doesn't mean that I don't remember the reasons that I studied when I was in school. The main reason that I was a very hardworking and devoted student was that I wanted to have a better life for myself. I wanted to be able to achieve the high goals that I had set for myself and that is the reason that I worked so hard in school. I wanted to be able to help my mother in the future since she did so much for me when I was a child.

You're response make me willing to study hard to specially learn, and to myself a better person in the near future.

I like your question :) I love learning and studying. I love studying and sharing what I learned :) My motivation is intrinsic. Though extrinsic factors like my parents are also helpful.

For me, I study hard in school not only because it can provide me a brighter future but also because I get to learn a lot more about almost everything. The knowledge you earned in school is priceless and it makes you a better person as well. You get to learn good values and right attitude which will enable you to contribute to society. I also study hard because I want to make my family proud and let them know how much I love them. I understand that they work hard just to get me to a much better school in our country and I really thank them for that.

Our parents are investing at school. Why? because once we finish studies we will obtain a gift that cannot be steal. That is our knowledge that we hard-worked for so many years.

I guess I study because of my family. It has always been important to my grandparents mother that I get good grades in school and I guess that's why I work hard in school. My family thinks if I have good grades I would be more successful in the future and they sort of made me believe in this too. Besides, there's not much more a student can do besides studying anyways. We're lucky that we're not in the job world yet.

Although, the overall studying procedure is actually stressing me out at the moment as i'm feeling sooooooo sleepy only during the studying time! but when it comes to the reasons, I want to graduate to have a great job to help myself and my parents... By the way, welcome to Mylot

I studied hard as a student because i just want to know what is right. I always wanted to please everyone, especially my parents. I have high expectations from me, so I try to meet their expectations, but sadly, they were never pleased no matter what I do. I am glad I studied though, because I just loved what I was learning.

I study hard for both myself and my family as well, its more like they fuel my drive to finish my studies and be a good student all the time. Well i did achive my goal and now im pretty much happy with what i have.Yes i admit its not that simple at all i experienced alot of hardships along the way but in the end i was able to overcome most of these hardships and i was able to finish my studies and im able to work to help support my family and be a good son to my mother. Well basically my father is not included anymore because hes gone already hes in heaven, im hoping that for some reason he will still be proud of me and my achievement in life. And im hoping that pretty soon i will be more of what he expect me to be.Thanks for posting such an inspiring topic have a great day and happy mylotting!

Well, the fact that I need to pass, makes me study. And the fact, that I do not want to waste time because I failed is enough reason.

when I was studying I thought this every day but when every time I got good marks in paper and everyone praise me then I feel that I was doing it for my own.and when I get bad marks and my parents get angry on me then I taught that I am doing for them. And now when I was doing Job I think I was doing for both for me and my family. Its very confusing.........

What makes me study is the very reason why we are studying - to learn. I have always believed that life is a never-ending pursuit for wisdom. If I stop learning, it would be as if I also stopped wanting to live my life. That might be too much to take, for there are still many other purposes that we have in life, but that thinking has made me excel in my academics since I started going to school. On the practical side, I think of it as an investment for my own future. I also want to be able to provide for my family. I want us to live in luxury.

What makes me study is my future. What i mean by this is that when I am faced with the decision of studying for a test verses chilling with my friends I relate both to my future. Will studying help me achieve my goals for becoming a Neonatal Nurse or would chilling with my friends.I put whats pertinent first then chill with my friends later if I have time.Sometimes you just have to buckle down and do what you have to do to be successful.

What makes me study is for my own good. I was an achiever and I always wanted to be on top because it makes me happy and I just want my parents to be proud of me. I hate the sole reason of studying because your parents wants you to. It is acceptable as a first reason when you are in first grade, but as time goes by you should be sticking to the reason that you are doing good in school for your self. You should always think that nothing can beat someone who is humble but intelligent. And always remember that you will only be a student once, you can never turn back the time and tell yourself I should have done this and that. Besides great honor can be passed on to your kids in the future and it will make them proud and follow your footsteps.

When I was a student, my inspiration was my mother. She was my family. Next to her are my half brothers and sister. I also want to improve our situation financially. Third is myself. I want to grow. I want to learn. Ih want to succeed. It was my long dream to have a good career, a business and a stable future. I can only do that if I am armored with the proper education. It is always an edge if you are a college graduate and have a good standing. So basically, that was my drive.

my mother made me study hard in my school days, and now i am an engineering student, the thing which make me study now is that, if i study well here , i can get a good job by campus interview and thus i can earn money and thus i can give my parents something instead of depending them for all my needs
