I worked at a call center where we had to do data entry as well. We basically typed what people said over the phone. Our required typing speed was 76wpm I think. Our typing tests there maxed out at 84wpm and almost all of us were able to type faster than that. I know I did because I found my pausing and waiting for the recording to speak faster so I could type faster. My coworkers and I would look at each other and ask, does this test seem slow to you too? Since the test didn't go any higher I can't say for sure what my typing speed is... and well since that call center closed down and I haven't worked there in 2 years, my typing skills may have slowed down a wee bit.

Practice is the best way. I get fast typing from just chatting online with friends :)

i got 100 words per minute but i trained typing since i was a kid. i went to a formal school of typing for four months when i was like 10 years old. my dad always typed so fast so i wondered what i could do to improve so he enrolled me there. today i type faster than him... i guess it is practice and you should be able to type without looking at the keys.

Yes that is considered a good typing speed, when I was in college I remember taking online typing speed and I got 54 words per minute with 98% accuracy. Now, I guess I am over 60wpm, I am just guessing though..lol..anyway keep it up you are considered a good typist in that speed.

I think my typing speed is about 20 WPM. I am getting older and slower, although i was never a fast typist. I was so glad when i got to computers and they had spell check, that is a very big plus.
