Ah insomnia. I wish I had it. I find it too easy to fall asleep which sucks because I'm actually afraid of sleep. Let my guard down for a moment and I fall asleep and then proceed to have a panic attack in the morning or when I realise I'm sleeping while in a dream or something.

It's not so much nightmares (though they do play a part). It's more that I'm worried I'll fall asleep and discover everything I know to be true is a dream. It obliterates all certainty, a fact which unnerves me greatly. That said, I'm also a night person and frequently go upwards of 24 hours without sleep. My current record is 83 hours without sleep. ^__^ Tis just a quirk of my reality, one I've learned to not allow bother me.

hi vastari, really you are afraid of sleeping.. why? are you afraid of nightmares? I love to sleep but there are times that I cannot sleep immediately when as I have mention insomia is hitting me.. I am also a night person. I easily fall asleep when its morning than in the evening.. i can even stand 24 hours without sleep.. when insomia hits me sometimes i drink sleeping pills which I know is not advisable. but when there is really a need for me to rest and sleep and I cant sleep I have to.. thanks for the response and happy mylotting...

I would have suggested the same - to not sleep anymore because you'll just end up having a very bad headache the whole day. But I guess you learnt the hard way hehehe.. Have a blessed Sunday as well.

I find myself fortunate not to suffer with insomnia. I am sorry you are having this problem. It is over now, since you started this discussion eight hours ago, but I hope it goes away and stays away.

Warm milk? I sometimes take a nice walk in the evening and it will relan and tire me out enough to sleep. SOmetimes this works. Not all the time. Happy mylotting.

Hi dorothy! Welcome to my crazy world! I am usually on here at 3:00AM many mornings, which means I am still awake from the day before! I have Insomnia and spend many evenings into the morning hours on here wondering what am I doing? I hope that you were able to sleep a little, although that usually makes me feel worse. I hope you will be able to sing your heart out in at Sunday Mass anyway! May God Bless You~ Opal

Sometimes being excited or "excitement" let you awake for a long time in the night! You mentioned "you are thinking of taking a nap or continue to be awake" tends your mind to be busy thus sleep is far.

I kinda hate insomnia when i know i have to be up early in the morning.. haha =D Especially in such hours like u, 5am or even 6am, much as i tried to sleep early, i will end up tossing and turning till abou 2-3am, before i managed to doze off, only to wake up 30mins later.. lol =D The fear of over sleeping is there, and thus it's kinda disturbing my sleep.. haha =D But at the same time, i cant do without the sleep, for it's gonna be a long day when i wake up.. lol =D SO no matter what, i will still try to force myself to sleep.. hehe

Is this the first time you are committed with the choir program in the church? Then I can understand your eagerness and tension that might have wake you up so early like this. But, if it is not so and you are getting up like this daily for no special reasons, you should consult a doctor without fail.

I've had too many sleepless nights to count. Currently I'm on a prescription medication to help me sleep, but I don't want to stay on it forever. My doctor told me that the best ways to cure insomnia are lifestyle changes and not just bedtime routine changes. You need to exercise more during the day and give yourself time to wind down every night. Turn off the computer at least an hour before you go to bed. I hope you get some sleep soon!

Two days ago, I had an insomnia... I was awake about 12 midnight until 11:30 in the morning... I had to attend a lecture by 3 pm. I was also confused if sleeping would be a good idea. But what the heck, I tried to sleep and was able to succeed. I was able to sleep for an hour and a half and get to the hospital for the lecture. Then the lecturer decided to postpone it. hahahahaha. Just lucky I was in a good mood even though I just had little time to sleep.

oh i really hate insomnia it makes me feel so weak especially if i have a very important thing to do in the next morning.

hi :) have you tried to check with the doctor what is the main cause of your insomnia? there are many reasons why people have a hard time in going to sleep. to some, they have low hemoglobin count or low red blood cell count or they have anemia. some have problems in mind and some have illness that is brought about by other illness. you should try to check with the doctor why you are suffering insomnia because if you have lack of sleep, it will lower your resistance to fight against harmful diseases.

Yes, Insomnia is affecting me as well. I blame it solely on soccer!! All the good soccer in India comes late nights. UEFA Champions League matches start at 12:00 in the night or 1:00 in morning. Again this world cup now has the last match starting at 12:00 at night and usually they are the best matches of the day!! So I blame it all on soccer :) Cheers! Ram

Hi Dorothy, I hope this time you're able to make up for the lost hours of sleep. Maybe next time, don't force yourself to fall asleep. just lay down, empty your mind with lots of thoughts, pray and just relax. when you reach your relax mode...then it will be easier for you to sleep. a glass of milk will also help.

whoa..same here always experiencing that due to different time schedules and commitments..just sleep after your Sunday mass praise and don't let them disturb you so you can sleep well and to prevent another attack.
