Pet peeves online

What are your pet peeves online? Mine are bad grammar usage and poor spelling. I have to admit, I like proper English usage and when someone says something like, "I seen a car accident on the way to work!" it just grates on my nerves. It doesn't really say much for the person's intelligence, either. Don't get me wrong. If you're using chatspeak (cul8r, LOL, etc) that's one thing but some of the posts I read are so disjointed as to not make any sense at all. Anyone out there agree? What is your pet peeve?

my online pet peeve is also bad grammar usage. I hate it when people can't use your you're correctly or their, there, and they're.

yeah with who and whom it's kind of confusing. Sometimes my friends are talking and I'll correct them before they finish what they say.

ROFL!!! I bet that makes you real popular with them! They just don't want to have a conversation without you, right? LOL!!! My daughter gets so mad at me when I correct her...she has a habit of starting a story with, "Jeremy, he likes ....dadada". I ask her, "Who is Jeremy He?"

LOL...you got that right. I cut them some slack with who/whom cuz that isn't as clear as some but "I had saw" or "I seen" just says you are not thinking when you speak. I love watching Castle cuz he has the same reaction I do.

I can tolerate bad grammar and poor spelling, because I understand that not all internet users come from English-speaking countries (including me). What I really hate is when people lie and make up things just to brag in the internet. They do this, thinking that nobody will know the truth anyway, but if you keep on asking them about it, you will eventually find out that they're not telling the truth. I hate that.

lol...not just on the internet, either. My daughter's father pulled that on me and was always trying to wriggle out from under my gaze as he tried to prove his lie was true. I haven't seen or heard from him since I was 5 weeks preggers and do not regret leaving that loser.

bytheway...not everyone with lousy grammar and spelling is from a foreign country. The woman quoted in my post was born and raised here in the good ole USA and third or fourth generation, at least. Linguistics is my strong suit and so my reaction is visceral when I hear or read something that is improper English. Also, my grandfather was from Germany. He didn't speak the language when he arrived here, either. His parents made a strict rule that nothing but English would be spoken in their home which is why they fit in so quickly when they immigrated here. Beyond that, I grew up and worked with Filipinos all my life and most of them got a really good grasp of the language (some even better than my native peers). I understand the difficulty of learning the language for a foreigner. But most of the folks who mess up just don't bother to proofread their posts before sending them in.

My peeve is when you ask a simple question of a person whom has knowledge of a specific field/area and they cannot take the time to answer you. Drives me batty! Why have a "friend" whom can't answer even the simplest of question? Now if it was embarassing then I understand the rationale behind not responding.\

lol...or when they give you an answer that is totally devoid of any helpful information and doesn't even relate to the original question? Good one!!!
