How much do you believe in 2012?

I have seen SO many people talking, bragging, flaming, worrying, and much more all about 2012. The truth is no-one can really predict the truth. Perhaps if I get to meet someone called Maya, I'll ask her, but before that, I don't know who made this all up? I know it's true that there is some kind of planet that will go directly next to planet earth, as it's possible that it could change the polarity of the earth. But what gives? Why we all worry about the future if we are living today? What do you guys think about 2012?

I have heard about the whole Planet X thing. I am interested in all the theories. I have heard a million reasons why the earth could end or the human race can be killed in 2012. Everything from loss of food, to government genocide.....truth is anything is possible. Not just in 2012 but ANY day. So no use of worrying. Just try to live each day like it might be your last. It really makes you enjoy the little things so much more. That's how I look at life. It's good to wonder, to know what could happen, and be mentally prepared just in case.

Another thing just look at all the bad things that are already happening. The war, technology is taking over, more floods and volcanoes, worst weather....the oil spill in the ocean. Any one or number of these things can damage life on earth greatly. It's already happening around us. No need to worry about 2012 we need to worry about Now.

Yea, you are so right. We all fixate at this period "2012", while right now the world is having problems as well. Perhaps we should think about solutions of these problems, and when time comes, and bigger problems start in 2012, than we have time to worry. Worrying everyday about what will become could make us all demotivated to keep on doing the things we like, since we could think it is the end. What will come, come, and so be it. Thank you for your kind answer nat

Well well, don't have to be so pessimistic about it^^ Perhaps it won't be in 2012, perhaps in 100 years... It is a possibility that the nature could be our end, but we will only know when it happens than. I thank you for your answer Letran.

Personally I don't think it is any more likely to be the Doomsday than any other "Doomsday Date" that has been predicted over the course of humanity. The Mayans reset their calendar every time it ended, and ours ends every year. The polarity of the Earth does change, but it's not as catastrophic as people think it is, and it doesn't happen suddenly. It takes many, many years to change. And no planet will go near earth in 2012, not close enough to harm us anyway, planets don't randomly move, they follow set paths. And the problem of a planet coming near us wouldn't be a flipping polarity, it would be the gravitational pull which would wreck our tides and atmosphere. In short: I don't believe in it at all.

I have exactly the same opinion about it, people could be scared all their lives for nothing. Living in fear just isn't anything for me. So I'd say we should move on with our life and just wait and see if we can talk about it as nonsense in 2013.

"Don't believe the hype" is all I have to say about 2012. Penn and Teller had an episode of there show "Bullsh_t", which exposes popular culture myths, about it. I have no idea where all this nonsense came from. It's ridiculous.

Very true, but since a lot of peops kept talking and many people don't know what they really cause I think. What started with a vague mayans thing to a movie, and now we think it really occurs. Weird how things can go. Thanks for the response crip.

I don't believe in it at all. The world will end one day, but on God's timetable not the Mayan's.

I just wonder why one should get worried, i have strong faith that it is not going to end in 2012 exactly, well even if it is, can we prevent that? The way we are playing with mother earth, is sufficient to blow it out any moment.. Thanks for sharing. Welcome always. Cheers. Professor

I don't know about anything involving it all, so I can't really tell if you are wrong or right. Perhaps I should do some research and perhaps I'll get the same conclusion as you. Have a nice day.

I have responded to more 2012 threads than I care to count, it's a pet peve of mine I guess, but I have an aversion to bad science and 2012 is about as bad as bad science can get. There is absolutely NOTHING to any of the disaster scenarios or the legend surrounding the whole 2012 issue. Nibiru cannot and does not exist. We crossed over the "galactic plane" a few million years ago and wont be again for millions more, besides, it has no effect on the earth anyway. the earth isn't going to and CAN'T flip over, the magnetic poles shift all the time and it has little effect on life here. I could go on and on but I think you get the idea.

I have read a serious amount of posts and threads of 2012, but yours makes me think the most, and because of what you type here, I remember indeed that the poles on earth eventually switch multiple times, but hadn't really thought of this since many people made me confuse a lot. Thanks for your reply, it made a lot clearer. I got the idea indeed, thank you and have a nice day

I don't believe it...everyone seems to have some idea of when the end will be but I don't think anyone will have a clue when it all will go down..I haven't heard that planet theory yet though..interesting!

Yea, haha, it was new to me as well, until I started searching around for real, not fake, youtube movies. But although you might be right, it could be a random guess that someone had thought it would be happening than. We'll never know until than. Thx for the answer RachelleNH.

I don't believe this will happen exactly in 2012, but it is sure there will be end some day and we can't do anything about this, because It will be out of our human powers.

Yea, if it does happen, there is nothing we can do. Although it would be a pitty that it would really end in 2012. Earth has been there for over thousands of years, and exactly in 2 years it would happen? I ain't happy about that thought. Thanks for the reply kingsizewe.

Hmmm.. I don't really care much about those stuff mentioned in 2012. Because to me, well the world's gonna come to an end.. soon.. err.. ok.. no problem. Haha.. Cos there is really nothing much that I can do to reverse that, I think. The only thing that I can do to change is the time for the end to come. I mean what is to come, let it come. Why should I worry about the future when I'm living in the now?? The now is the one that should get all my attention and effort whilst the future, let the people in the future deal with it. I can only do what is best for now, the rest.. let it be.. There'll be ways to handle things.. eventually. Cheers.

Yea, same thought in mind, what comes, will come and so be it. There is nothing we could do if anything really would happen, even when it is not the case. I thank you for the response, have a nice day ohiocy!

No its just a myth from now.At first people had a thought but ever since the movies are coming this myth is getting a shape of reality. And now the people are believing in this.Does anyone have nay proof, no they don't have.I didn't say that the earth will never stay forever or human raise are going to stay forever. The dinosaurs are erased from the earth but its take time not just wipe out in two year or something.so if believe it then no problem. But my thinking is not to believe it.

I don't believe that this will happen at all. Just because the Mayan calendar ends on 2012 doesn't mean the world is going to end. Maybe they thought that making a calendar 5 milleniums long would be long enough. I haven't heard the planet theory yet, but it seems to be interesting. This will just be like Y2k.

Yea, probably just is a miscalculation, or they indeed thought about the milleniums, we will never really know, since this is based on what they said a serious amount of years back. Thank you for this, have a great day :D

many astrologers predicted about a big disaster on 21st December 2012. In my opinion in 2012, World will face severe destruction but it is TOO YOUNG to die/end in 2012. I have posted a very interesting blog on my website. If you have time just have a look at it.

Though we dont have solid proof until now that it is sure to happen, it doesn't mean that it wouldn't. Now the 2010 thing is gaining ground due to recent press releases by NASA stating that the life on earth might get destroyed due to intense solar radiation by may of 2013.All we can do presently is argue. It is better we just wait and see. It is not so far away:-)

Yea it is possible that it could happen 2012, but it could also happen tomorrow, since we don't have any solid proof indeed. It's just weird how they all got to 2012 though, never-the-less knowing what it was all about. I'll be doing the same, just plain waiting. Even though counting down the days it just making yourself stressed, so I just won't be thinking about it anymore in a month, or earlier, when this thread gets closed. I thank you for your answer.

well, actually i'm more scared about the next month... :D:D:D just where EXACTLY did you read about that passing planet? are you talking about that asteroid the Russians want to blow apart? as for 2012 - well, can you find an American, European or other calendar for year 2706 (for example)? i guess not;) the Mayans say nothing about the end:) they just didn't make calculations far than the year we count 2012 - they presumed their kingdom will still exist and they will continue their work with the necessary corrections :)

At first it looked like that site only was about the movie named 2012. Although Nasa.gov doesn't really sound to a site to promote a movie. Yea the world will end, but I guess no-one really knows when, like all other nature disasters (tornadoes, tsunami, ...) that happened. Thanks for your answer sagar21, appreciated^^ Have a great day/night yourself.
