What do you do when you receive a friend request from someone you dont like?

I lately received a friend request from someone who in the past was a pain to me in several respects, ex. lying about me with others. However I did not have the 'courage' to turn down the friend request and i accepted. I made some customizations so as not to allow to see my photos and so on. What would you have done? My reasoning was that i did not want to make him feel i was afraid/inferior by not accepting.

You are right to initially accept the invite. I have a habit of doing this. Later, when you are looking through your list of friends, you might think, "WHAT WAS I THINKING??!" I have accepted friends only to find out later the person was not the same "John" I thought (bad pic or whatever).Keep in mind, fb lets you un-invite friends, and they probably won't notice.Let me know how this turns out!

I normally ignore it. I dont see any purpose in accepting a friend request when I dont want anything to do with him/her. Especially if its the type of person who would lie about me with others. Actually, I would be surprised if I would get such a request because that would mean that that person is not sensitive to the feelings of others. So again, I wouldnt want to have anything to do with him/her.

If I were you, I would ignore the request. I mean why should I accept a friend request from someone who is not really a friend? For example, he/she lied to me or talked about me behind my back. For me, the answer is an absolute no-no. However, that's my opinion. People may have different opinion or view about it.

I would probably have done the same thing as you did, I don't feel very comfortable not accepting people's requests if I really know them in real life (weirdos who just add me without even having met me is something else!). But I guess it depends on how bad the stuff he or she did to you in the past was, if it was something very serious I probably would not have accepted.
