Sai Baba of Shirdi, a small town in the state of Maharashtra,India, is one of the most revered and venerated saints of the country. He has millions of devotees not only in India but all across the world. He passed away in 1918 but people who flock to his grave receive his blessings and help in many miraculous ways, Its not neccessary to visit his grave. All one has to do is pray to him with full faith and devotion and help will come, in some form or the other. Once when i was very young, around 8 or 9 years old, my parents and me went to Shirdi. We were standing in the queue of devotees and were inside the hall where Sai Baba`s body lies in a marble tomb with his life size marble statue over it.We saw that one of Baba`s direct disciples,Abdul Baba, a feeble and frail old man was praying at the tomb with his hands and face pressed to it.At that time some members of the Trust which governs the place came inside the hall and noticing the old man asked him to leave the place. Probably Abdul Baba was hard of hearing and did not respond, besides his eyes were closed.Suddenly those people started abusing, hitting and kicking him.The old man meekly moved away but this enraged my dad who started berating them for the injustice they were doing. My father got so mad that he refused to worship at the tomb though those people apologized to him.We then left the town and went to the railway station where a train was waiting to leave for our city.It was jam packed and there was absolutely no space even to stand. While looking helplessly suddenly a man, decently dressed, came to us,motioned to us to follow him and took us to the very first bogie which mysteriously was completely empty. He helped us put our luggage inside. After doing so my dad turned around to thank him and give him some money for his help but there was nobody in the compartment, he had vanished in thin air.My dad went to the door but he was not seen on the platform.Immediately the train started moving and best of all this compartment remained empty throughout the journey whereas all the bogies were full.Who was this man? It was none other than Sai Baba who came to our help because he was pleased that my father had come to the help of his devotee.

Such instances make our hair stand on end. Sai Baba takes care of his devotees. Why did the trustees kick and/or abuse Abdul Baba. Were they not knowing that he was Baba's direct disciple? That is surprising.I am not able to imagine the retort they would receive from Baba.

When power comes into the hands of someone, it makes them blind to realities.Such a thing happened to the trustees.I do not know what retribution they must have faced and it does not matter, does it?

Thank you for sharing that wonderful story. I have heard of Sai Baba before and the stories have always felt very inspiring and appealing to most people particularly when they are going through diffictulties in their lives. As a Zen practitioner, I feel that we all have much karma to work through, and stories there are wonderful stories about spiritual masters that help us do this. This to me, was such a story. _Derek

Thank you derek.Baba has incarnated as the world famous Satya Sai of Puttaparthi.Just before he left his body Sai Baba had said that he would be back in another form exactly 8 years later and he did.Satya Sai Baba was born in 1926,8 years after Baba left his body in 1918.

That is an amazing story and a wonderful experience by the sound of it. Do you think that the man who helped you and your family on the train was in fact Sai Baba in a different body? I don’t dismiss anything that I cannot explain. My own belief would tell me that the man on the train was probably an angel who is walking the earth, I think there are many out there, which is not too far from your conviction. Regardless your father received some good Karma for his actions, that’s for sure!

Yes, that was none other than Sai Baba because he does and can take any form that he desires whenever his devotees need help. His life story is full of such incidents, not just when he was in his earthly body but even after he left it.even today his devotees get many experiences like the one i had.
