Do any of you other adults out there get pleasure from watching some of the wonderful animated films that are around nowadays. One of my favourite of the recent films is 'Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs' · I thought that this film was really really good my husband and I laughed from start to finish of the film. I adored Steve,(a talking monkeyhe was hilarious! I know that this is a children’s film that is obviously aimed at the younger audience, but it is one of those films which definitely has things for the adults too who will no doubt be forced to sit and watch with their children! Not that I needed any forcing I loved it as much as the kids, if not more!! The film is about a young inventor, Flint, a boy who is always inventing useless items: ratbirds, a “remote control” TV, Spray on Shoes- which never come off! And the list goes on! Everybody is fed up of his inventions on the small island (hidden below the A of “Atlantic” on the globe, Swallow Falls and so when he makes a new invention, a machine which makes food from water, nobody gets excited, despite them been stuck to eating sardines forever after the sardine factory made too many sardines!!!! Sounds a bit strange I know - but you MUST watch it - it's a real rib tickler!!!

Oh yes! I haven't done any research on it, but I'm assuming it was based on the children's book (no mistake about the title) . . . it was definitely different from the book which is way shorter (and I love the book!). Still, I enjoyed the film more than I thought I would. Oh - that monkey was a hoot! Flint's father's facial expressions (or lack of it - ha ha) were funny too. Hubby and I mostly see animated films as "films" - not necessarily for kids unless it has a definite known kiddie character - like Barney or The Wiggles. So we enjoy many of them!

Well, it SHOULD have been based on the book, but it really wasn't. As I said the the discussion-starter, I didn't like the film because it didn't follow the book at all. The only things in common were the title and the fact that food fell from the sky. SO disappointing!

As I've not read the book I enjoyed the film on it's own merit, I hardly ever like films of books tat I have read

i'm in the industry, so i watch it to get ideas well...i do need to maintain a certain level of creativity. animated films are the epitome of creative communication, as story tellers are able to tell whatever tale they want, and there will be practically no limits to what they want to show in their tale.. i absolutely enjoyed that meatball movie (that's what my office calls it!) it was a real nice play on ideas...and we even started developing a little project based on ideas from it

it does sound interesting.. but it's quite taxing on the mind to be able to conjure up crazy ideas every single day... hence the need for a lot of creative input

I saw that movie and loved it! Actually, I like a lot of the animated movies that have come out in recent years like Ice Age (all three of them) and Monsters, Inc. I still love all the Disney animated movies, too. Watching them now takes me back to my childhood which is a great escape from reality every now and then. You'll find me checking out all the new animated movies, actually. Some of them are hysterically funny and I do like to laugh.

Oh, definitely! I used to think that grandkids were a way for us to relive our youth but we don't need them. We just need more animated movies.

Oh I love watching films even if they're originally meant for kids. The last one I really enjoyed was How to Train Your Dragon. I don't see anything wrong with enjoying those kinds of films.

And I thought it was only me being childish *hehe* But to be honest, it doesn't even have to be a featurefilm for me, Bugs Bunny or the Roadrunner do it just as well ;) It's just as well that I have a small child, gives me an excuse!

I also like animated films, especially those created by Pixar. I consider them as genius artists who created so many wonderful movies. My favorite one is "Up", because the story is hilarious and also touching. I also like Wall-E, Ratatouille and Monster's Inc. There are such a lot of hidden messages in their movies, which make Pixar's works not merely a childish 3D show for children. And about Cloudy, it's very funny to watch too, my daughter likes the jello and ice cream scenes...

There's no wrong watching movies for kids, sometimes it is good to be young at heart. I too sometimes watch movies for young ones. Would you believe that I love watching "Barbie"? I have watched "Up" too. It is about the story of the movie anyway.

I have never been a fan of children animated films as a child, and even as an adult do not particularly care too much for them. However I have found that when an innocent animated film is release I tend to favor them. For instance Alice in Wonderland was a very good one. Children today are so exposed to a great many action and killer thrilling movie. I find that many children today do not enjoy children films if there is no beatings and murder involved. A shame really that our children of today, cannot continue to keep and enjoy their innocence for too long due to the over-exposed media.

I do too! I love Disney movies and Pixar movies especially, a lot of them are really well made (better made than some grown up movies even, I would say!) and funny! I am not ashamed of that either, my friends all know I like these movies, and often give me ideas of new kiddie movies to see if they hear of something...

I must say this movie was awesome! I didn't like how everyone was so negative with him inventing things that just did not work. But I would have to say Flint kept trying to do his best and by the end of the move those products that seemed useless came in handy to save their little town. From start to finish "cloudy with a chance of meatballs" is definitely a funny movie with some 'ahh' moments in it for the love birds out there.

Well I'm 19, so some people still see me as a kid, but I like kids films more than I like adult films. Kid's films are uplifting, wholesome, and fun! Adult films... well these days they're vulgar, depressing, and offensive. I'd rather watch kids films a lot of the time! I haven't seen Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs yet, but I'd like to! Thanks for the recommend!

I see nothing wrong with adults watching kid oriented films. Sometimes they are better than what most adults are viewing. I watch a lot of kid films on the disney channel myself. They are great family viewing.
