What would you choose?

If you had to choose one of these things which one would it be? Being blind? Being deaf? Or that you wouldn't have either functional legs or arms? It's a tough decision and hopefully you won't have to leave that way but if you think about it what's worse? Maybe i'd choose...oh i don't know. If you can't hear than there's no music but if you can't see there's no colors. And not being able to walk or grab something is devastating too. Be grateful for everything you have!!! Enjoy your day

So you'd rather loose everything than one of the mentioned things. Well i understand you in a way. If something happened to me that i'd just be a burden to my closest i'd also consider leaving this world. Thanks for your reply, wish you good luck!

i am so very grateful that i am neither blind nor deaf.. but if i were beaten and tortured and asked to choose, i may choose to go deaf...for i can't bear to not see my lady love again but i don't mind to not hear her nagging anymore

It is not a fun discussion. I am grateful to God to be in good health today and I know that I am lucky. I had many handicapped persons in my family, after illness or accident. What I know is that you need a lot of courage to accept it. I am not sure to have enough courage today to face a serious handicap, except if you give me the privilege to lose my brain at the same time, and to not be aware of my handicap.

Well no one is ready for such loss but as they say...people can take much more than they think. I recently collected bottle caps for an invalid that was saving them for new chair. For every cap he was given a cent and in the end he got 2 rooms filled with caps and now he has a new wheel chair. Whole country was giving him caps which shows that people are eager to help if you really have problems it's just sad that they need such a sad trigger to help. Have a great day friend

You weren't rude at all. Why do you think we are like that? Helping only when someone is really down? Do you think it's because we feel better about ourselves?

I just hope I wouldn't have to loose my sight. The feeling would be one of devastation unless you are born with it. Starting all over again would require lots of hard work and self discipline.

the more appropriate way to ask this question is: If you would be disabled, what disability would you prefer? If this are the only choices, I would prefer to lose my legs. There more jobs available to those who don't have legs than those who can't hear nor see nor grasp things. I can consider myself lucky I will have a choice like this if I get into any accident. But certainly I would not want to be disabled as much as possible. Who wants to be disabled?

No one does. Well actually there is a rare sickness when people want to cut their limbs off but let's leave that. I actually worked with partially deft people assembling chairs and let me tell you they weren't doing as bad as you might think. I think it's worse if you can't run or walk the stairs in my opinion. But i'm glad you contributed to the discussion, i wish you'll never be disabled in any way. Cute picture by the way is that your cat?

Hello, Aren't we happy to see how blessed we are for having a fully functional body? :) To answer your question, I'd also choose being deaf than being blind or impaired arms or legs. Even if I can't hear, I can still learn to read people's mouth to understand what they're saying. I can learn sign language too. I can still read, watch tv with subtitles, or work in front of the computer that doesn't require much hearing. As opposed to losing my sight, I won't be able to see what I'll do and I'd rather live a "silent" world than live in a very dark sight. At least I'll still get to see the image of the people I love so much than just relying on the memory of their faces in my head. Cheers, Honey

When you think of it not hearing actually isn't that bad but because i love music i couldn't choose when i started this discussion. Fortunately there are ways for deaf people to "hear" so life is a bit easyer for them. Thanks for your view on subject, have a great day, i'm glad you are aware what you have

I would chose to be deaf because I might not hear so many stupid things and I could still understand people by reading their lips, and music as well, I can fell the bass. Not being able to see or walk is the worst thing that can happen to someone. Take care of yourselves !

Yes not being able to walk or run would be so bad. But to see nothing that's the worse thing in my opinion. Tho bass wouldn't help you a lot but still better than nothing. You take care too

No human would like to be handicapped or have any disabilities... but as per ur discussion... I guess , I prefer being deaf.... Coz u don't have to hear any thing what others say.. If u r blind.. u can't any of ur work on your own... But it comes to listening.. It's hard.. But atleast u can read and understand.. If u were blind or handicapped u definitely , need another persons help... But if u deaf.. U don't need much of others help I guess.. as theres sign languages too. After u can speak well rite so.. I guess being deaf would be big problem... But I DON'T WANT TO BE DEAF!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah i know you don't want to be When i started this discussion i couldn't choose one option but now i also decided being deaf would be "the best". However it would be pretty lonely and quiet. Thanks for your view

Hi slovenc: I think that all the senses of my body are a god's gift so I think just as you say that we have to appreciate all of them, as a whole. I don't like to chose, but if I have to lose, I think I'd prefer to be deaf because I have listen music so music is on my mind and at the same time I don't talk too much so I think this won't affect my communications skills very much. Even with that, this would be sad because I couldn't enjoy the magic of music anymore. Thanks for making this question about a very hard decition. ALVARO

If you heard music than you'd remember and probably sharpened the memory if no other sound would come in so that's a good point. But what if you were deaf from the start? You might be fine because you wouldn't know what you missed who knows. You're like me... my sister talks so much that i only recently started to talk more but people used to ask me why am i so quiet. So being numb wouldn't be so hard for me and there would be no miscommunication. Thank you for your contribution and for backing me up on the other comment above. Added you please accept, have a great day

I'd want functional arms and legs so i'd least have some independence and could do things for myself. When I was younger I would have definately said that I'd rather be deaf, because living in a world of darkness would scare me and I'd miss out on seeing some beautiful sights that the world has to offer. Now that I'm older I'm not so sure. Can you imagine never hearing music, or listening to some of the jokes your friends say or even the birds singing, that would be hard. So I don't know which one I'd choose, just hope it never happens to me or my loved ones.

I hope it doesn't too. You said it...to never hear a voice that would be awful. Everything would be well...quiet and lonely But not being able to walk or hold something might be even worse. Thanks for your comment it's hard to decide.

Aww, cmon, Beethoven was deaf, and he constructed music. I am sure you could still enjoy some music by the feel of the vibrations or something, like some reggae with good base :D. Yeah, I would probably have to go with being deaf over being blind. You could be more independent if you were deaf, instead of being blind.

I would probably go with being deaf, you can "feel" the music. But I guess if you're blind you can become a martial arts specialist. jk ; )

I'm surprised how many choose being deaf. About the martial art part I think most of it is exaggerated and if you shoot a guy with crossbow he would die especially if he was blind a good joke. Thanks for your comment

I think that being being blind would be the worst. To not be able to see your family , your friends , anyone is completely sad. Even to be deaf is better to me because you would actually have a glimpse of people.

You're right being blind is the worse thing that can happen out of the mentioned. You are always in fear that you'll hit something or be hit by something or be robbed and so on. Not to mention you never see any color at all. Poor people those which can't see Thanks for your view on this
